Kitty arthritis

My female kitty is now about 13 years old and seems to be struggling with arthritis. Actually both cats are struggling, but my ginger only seems to limp a little when its cold. My female is starting to limp all the time.
We tried giving her half a cannosan a day but after a while she just started bringing it up again.

We then moved her onto hills J/D but the stuff only comes in small bags and is expensive. Now every 3rd or 4th day I find her brought up food somewhere in the house. Its not even really digested, just chewed.
So the next thing to try with her is the canned JD food, but the stuff is stupid expensive, like R18 for a single serving. There is no way I can afford to spend R1000 on cat food a month.

Anyone know of any good alternatives to hills? Maybe I will just give them soft food every second or third day, but thats not really going to help with her joints.

Sorry, no, I have them, all 3 on hills and yeah sometimes one throws up a bit - almost like you said, just chewed. Maybe its too rich?
My cats are 3 yrs old and healthy, never had any issues, thanks god !!
I know there is some medicine for humans that's brilliant but not sure if animals can take it?
Trying to remember the name

There is this gell stuff you mix in with their food ( will get the name) our cat is about 12, and also suffers from arthritis , stuff works like a charm , and isn't too expensive

Is she throwing up the food because of arthritis?

No, but could be because of the active ingredient in the JD food.

Could also be because she is old. And could also be that she is a cat. :p

Why the hell do you people punish your old pets like this? Especially if the arthritis is bad already. It's bloody barbaric torture if you ask me. "Here kitty kitty, have some more pain for the day...oops I forgot, you had it through the night as well"

Let them go rather...more humane imho.

Dude. She is barely limping. She still comes and rubs up against me looking for attention, she still stalks the other cat and pounces on him when he is not expecting it and she will still jump on anything that moves under the blanket.

Trust me, the day I think that she feels like she would rather be dead is the day I help her to that. But ffs it's not humane to kill an animal thats still full of life because they're in a little pain.

I read in your OP "both cats are struggling". Maybe I understood it wrong. Sorry for that. In any event, I'll be keeping my eye on you...so....just saying :p

I meant struggling with a little pain, I can see now how that could be misleading. Maybe I should have said in a little discomfort. But some days are worse than others. This morning she climbed into my ginger again. I feel so sorry for him, she waits until he is curled up in a ball fast asleep and she pounces on him. He is six months younger than her, but he is still an old boy.

Meh. I had a cat who always stood on one front leg. Didn't seem like he was in too much pain. It's just age being age.

Salmon Oil Tablets - The Bottle should state Clearly "Salmon Oil" not the copy stuff that is just marked "OMega 3"
If they wont eat the capsule, just puncture the capsule and squease the liquid onto their food.

I use it daily for the dogs, good for coat and arthritis, cats should be fine with it
