So, I want to get the opinion of the locals at MyBB.

How much of a knife edge is South Africa on politically? In other words, how much action/inaction do you think it'll take for the country to descend into chaos?

With the recent striking against bad service delivery. The teachers striking. The toll roads, the increased fees for eskom from tomorrow.
A lot of people are unhappy..

What do you think?

Well, I dunno about anyone else, but if the price of Jelly Babies goes up anymore I will crack and go postal in the sweet aisle.

Do you remember the knife edge in 1994? Well that was 'Current Affairs' then...this is fishing

I think we are already over the edge, we just don't know it yet.

I feel its already too late, all the SWC did was delay the inevitable. With all the price hikes, corruption, crime, dissent in the ANC and lie mongering everywhere else, my heart tells me we are on the slippery slope to either a coup in a few years, civil unrest nationally, or a vote of no confidence similar to what happened to Mr Mbeki.

Yes, I don't have very high hopes for the future, but I am also in a really bad mood lol.

But looking at stories like the blue bulls player going ape crap.. And keeping in mind the corruption uncovered daily. And now the story with the DA and blacks being tokens.. It adds up.

feel we are on a slippery slope downwards, but the water is not hot enough for people to really start jumping. current protests have become the norm.

The people strike because they are told to strike. They stop striking because they are told to stop striking.

There is no chaos in that, simply the dickswinging of some union and/or community leader.

The definition of "knife edge" is that it could go either way. However, you have chosen to outline the one scenario and did not bother to mention the other possibility, i.e. that we are on the verge of something big, positive etc.

Yeah sure - we will go to heaven if we vote ANC - Right ???

The sky is falling, and been falling for 100's of years.

You could have asked the same question 30 years ago, and probably get the same responses then.

WARNING: Dont go there...this forum hates positive.

I think we were even more on edge in 76.

Things may be hectic now but its nowhere near as bad as 1976/94

Was checking this thing on the Shell house massacre last night... everyone just killing the cr@p out of each other. Its quite chilled now.

99.9% us us don't have any option but to stay whatever happens so it must just happen and we'll have to deal with it.

Are we all going to be slaughtered in our beds or driven into the sea - nah.

Quite frankly my day to day life hasn't changed much since 1994 - yes we get p*ssed off at the corruption , theft and incompetence but that is mainly hurting the the governments own supporters.

If I was 30 years younger I might think differently.

Most of the country is still stupid enough to vote ANC. So obviously they aren't interested in getting rid of the useless idiots running this country, because they're useless idiots themselves.

Optimistically: 10 years left

Realistically: 3-5 years till Zim 2.0
