I'm travelling to Eastern Europe in 3 weeks and need to be in touch for work at all times. I was considering local sims but couldn't find a single service provider that covers more than 3-4 countries. Since we'll be travelling through 8 countries in 3 weeks, that could become an enormous admin burden.

Of all the 'Worldsim' type options I've looked at, KnowRoaming seems like the best bet.

Has anyone used the KnowRoaming sticker?

What was your experience WRT connection and general usage?

Also, do you still have to notify your SA provider that you'll be in a roaming area?

Any issues whatsoever?

Any feedback appreciated. Thank you.

I used it recently in the US. Worked fine for me, especially for data. Did not use it a lot for voice calls.

You don't need to notify your SP that you will be away or roaming because as far as they are concerned you are not overseas. You have to pay $4.50 per month to get an SA number that you just forward your SA calls to.

Just beware of SMSes in certain countries. In the US they were 10c but in Dubai they were $1.04. Check the rates (in the app) before using.

If you're a Vodacom customer do look at the Travel Saver product, depending on which countries you are in. You pay R30/day and the rates are quite reasonable.

Hope this helps.

I recently used it with unlimited data packages in Europe and no complaints. We traveled through 3+ countries, so even though local sims would have been cheaper, the convenience is worth it.

I just got one yesterday and so far have been very impressed with the customer service, the product seems to be a great idea, will be trying it out in Austria next month

Problems with Knowroaming?

Is anyone else experiencing problems with their KnowRoaming sticker?

I had mine for about 2 months and suddenly my Vodacom sim started playing-up, i would notice after hours of "quietness" that the phone says "No sim inserted"

I would have to pull it out, re-seat it and put it back.

It carried on for a week until i finally peeled off the KnowRoaming sticker and now the Vodacom sim is perfect again. A bit of a waste of money for me.. :(

Nope, used mine again in Ghana couple of weeks ago. Also with Vodacom.. No issues. I'm using a iphone6.

Yeah im on iPhone 6 as well. Very weird.

Maybe i should buy another one. I have a OneSimCard which is about the same, however having to constantly switch sims is a pain and i already almost lost my sim card holder while trying to do it on a bus :)

They dont seem to have data bundles do they? just the uncapped ones per day?

There customer service was amazing today, bought one from iStore (they would not honor the price they stated on website, but I needed it) then the voucher was missing, a quick mail to KnowRoaming and they topped it up with the $10. Then later on the way home for a call from the local rep for KnowRoaming and he said he will top up with the difference that iStore would not honor. Really good service. Data rates for UK work out the same as Vodacom but no R30 a day cover charge :)
