Knysna 'Naais' Telkom

In Durban.

Soz, not billboard, as in massive overhead board, you know those little lightpole boards with the headlines on? One on those.

Didn't get the papers name, but think it was the mail and guardian, they had these boards on every second streetpole down the main streets in town.

search the forum for knysna - first wi-fi enabled municipality in SA

a number of others, including durban, are now looking at this

Hi,

Does anyone have this story? I saw it on a billboard this am.

Thanks,
Daaru.

I could be wrong but I thought it was the Daily News.

in the mail and guardian -an excellent read if you have access (mweb)....would not be cool to cut and paste this content

"Knysna up yours to Telkom"

Yes a very good read.

Gale said it was testing power line communication where residents could access broadband Internet and voice over Internet protocol by simply plugging a modem into an electricity socket in their house.

I know there was an article about this last year but has anyone been contacted about these trials?

one of my neghbours has some bpl equipment apparently good for 300 metres - gonna fool around with it in december

“Telkom has in fact addressed this matter in a way that is wholly transparent and open,” said Lulu Letlape Telkom’s group executive of corporate communication.
The woman wouldn't know transparent if you wrapped her head in clingfilm.

fresh from the flame thread...

all her public statements re knysna referred to section 41 of the telecomms act as being the basis for why telkom believes the set up illegal....section 41 - dealing with private telecommunications networks - is largely irrelevant
