Dischem sells it and most health food storesNot in Durban, unless I'm just going to the wrong filling stations lol. I found a shop though since writing that comment called Sun-Sun who has it and all kinds of other cool Asian foods.![]()

Nice, how is your Kombucha brews tasting?I have managed to cultivate a huge healthy scoby which is being kept in a 'scoby hotel'. I'm happy to give out some pieces so you can start your own if you are happy to pick up in the fourways area.
Haven't made in a while, I've been too busy, but generally very nice, especially flavoured with ginger, lemon and some honey.Nice, how is your Kombucha brews tasting?
I typically add ww fruit juice for my flavors they have a decent variety and they play nicely with the kombucha for the second ferment and carbonationHaven't made in a while, I've been too busy, but generally very nice, especially flavoured with ginger, lemon and some honey.
You can get fancy, but only flavour after the tea has brewed. The yeasts and bacteria will eat anything and the resulting flavors will not be what you are looking for, so you only want to be feeding the scobi black or green tea and sugar.Hey peeps just received my Kombucha starter kit, pretty darn excited to get brewing. Thus far my only experience of Kombucha has been drinking the Woolies one, which I like very much, so I'm quite a noob. I got myself this little kit from TA - just wondering if anyone else started out with a kit like this and what was your experience?

I see only black tea or green tea is mentioned, my question can I get fancy with it and get some flavored teas like grapefruit tea or things like that? Would it still work?
How careful do I have to be about sterilising my jars? What's the best method to sterilise a jar to grow it in?
TIA
Always try be as clean as possible. I used to brew kombucha and then brewed beer. Beer is 100x more sensitive than kombucha but remember its better to be more sanitary you are growing living goodies whether good or bad.Hey peeps just received my Kombucha starter kit, pretty darn excited to get brewing.
