Four armed men made off with undisclosed amount of money after a robbery at a KwikSpar store in Pretoria on Friday, police said.

Captain Thomas Mufamadi said the incident occurred after 5am, in Wapadrand east of Pretoria.

The four forced a security guard, the manager and delivery men into a store room.

One of the robbers took the manager to his office at gunpoint and forced him to open the safe, while the other three stood guard at the store room.

They fled in the manager's car, a white Toyota Tazz with registration number CDP 599GP.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police opened a case of armed robbery and a manhunt for the robbers had been launched, Mufamadi said. - Sapa

Although it may not be newsworthy to you anymore, to people that were involved in something like this, it is rather traumatic.

About five years ago, my (at that stage five year old) boy and myself were held at gunpoint in our local Spar, whilst they beat up the manager to force him to open the safe.

Although my boy handled the whole thing as an adventure, I still freeze up whenever I see a number of people at a shop, doing innocent looking things. This is what happened that night until 10 people suddenly pulled out AK47's and handguns.

The worst part is that they were so sure of not being caught, that they did not even wear masks or anything, regardless of the fact that they were being filmed on the cctv.

If we become so blase about crime that it is not newsworthy any more, we certainly have lost the war and may just as well surrender and give up on living.

I'm not saying the people involved were not traumatised in any way... In actual fact, but news worthy is a relative thing at this point in time. What is happening with Eskom, and with the corruption should take centre stage for now.

Crime is an issue, but its an issue that is going to take many years to sort out.

Huh? Make rape & murder legal? Where did I say that? I just don't like certain users making News & Current affairs their anti-South Africa sounding board. Sure, issues need to be discussed but I think they have to be more relevant, more unique to this country.

Indeed --- I don't see what's wrong with posting news, that affects people here, in a "news and current affairs" thread. To complain about that suggests a serious agenda.

My dad was actually at that Spar around the time this happened (and I *nearly* was too), if he'd been just slightly earlier he could've been involved in a more serious way.

It's also worth noting this isn't the first time that Spar has been held up. And other similar hold-ups in the general area have also resulted in deaths. And it's getting worse.

Indeed, and to say "crime happens everywhere" is a blatant fallacious argument that I'm sick of hearing. If you're 50 times more likely to be murdered in one country than another, to lie and purport that the two are EQUAL (because "both have crime", you see, as if it's a binary yes/no thing that you either "have" or "don't"), is DISGUSTING and fscked-up on so many levels it's hard to comprehend, and can only be someone pushing an awful, effectively murderous agenda - get help, seriously.

Fudzy is claiming that merely POSTING a news item about a crime incident that actually happened is "anti-South Africa". WTF? I guess the *facts* must be "anti-South Africa" then.

A 12-year-old boy and a man aged 31 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a raid on a garage.

Two people entered the BP garage in Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire, on Thursday night and threatened staff with a sledgehammer and a crowbar.
