Why are you shutting down the university in regards to NSFAS, that is a government matter, protest at parliament FFS.

Every time I have this conversation with "protesters", a.k.a. I failed last year and am not getting funding because of it this year, they always look at me with stupid expressions, never thinking one step further (thinking of their impact on everyone else would be two steps, way too much brainpower/class/Menschenliebe required there)

This is all part of a bigger plan by the governement to keep their voter base uneducated. The advantages are numerous as uneducated voters will believe anything you tell them. They will also struggle to find work making them dependent on your grants. They will also breed at a much faster rate. This is to name but a few.

want everything for free. what puzzles me is why go to university and then finish and then still want everything for free? one day government is going to run out of money for all the freebies they're handing out LOL

Drove passed Edgewood today (UKZN's education college) and the police were already out in force...

I disagree. The ideas being taught at university right now are so stupid that you have to be an "intellectual" to adopt them.

Someone needs to explain that to the people. If you want Everything For Free, that means you will have to work for free.

Yep. At about 10 we could see clouds of black smoke rising from there, I suspect a tyre or two got torched. Was pt out quickly though.

I'm still not buying this. A far simpler explanation is just that the government is just incompetent.

They can't even keep roads in decent condition, parastatals are in a shambles etc. but they can pull off some elaborate nation-wide conspiracy? I don't think so.

UKZN campus shut down as students, management continue

The University of KwaZulu-Natal's (UKZN) Howard College campus will remain closed this week as negotiations between management and students continue.

In a communiqué to students, the university said executive management decided to suspend the academic programme. Lectures are earmarked to begin next Monday.

"This suspension will allow management the space to continue to engage the student leadership and deal with issues raised. Other operations of the university will continue as normal," read the e-mail to students on Wednesday.

The protest is in response to a provincial call to shut down universities following students' demand for free, quality education.

Central SRC secretary general at UKZN, Siyabonga Khumalo, previously said financial exclusion was a running theme for the protests.

"Students must pay 50% of money [they owe in order] to register. We are saying this is not possible. It's hard for people to come up with that much money at this time of year."

Total shutdown of Vodacom, total shutdown of kzn universities, total shutdown of this and that and of course Eskom Shutdown of electricity. I'm starting to see a pattern here. They like shutting things down, right? Who switches them on again?
