Hey ppl.

My company is looking for a router that can do VPN tunneling(not passthrough) and must have an RJ11 port for ADSL.What can i get for under R1000.00?

I have looked at the TP link solutions but they only have L2TP passthrough.MIcrotik only has ones without RJ11 jacks which means i will need a modem in
between.

Any suggestions?

Tx in advance!

Billion 74xx range can do L2TP tunneling and has an ADSL port which is around the R1000 mark. What are you connecting to thou as it's usually best practice to have the same brand of device on both sides of the tunnel.

Tx.Company is changing our infrastructure to connect to an ISP via an LT2P connection to achieve QoS and other security features.

I see can you not ask the ISP what they recommend and then use that? Otherwise in future if you have problems the ISP can just blame the router you bought.

You can always get a cheap ADSL modem (eg. D-Link DSL-2500U for under R200) and connect it to a MikroTik RB750 (for under R500).
Generally it is best to use Cisco hardware for L2TP VPN's. We have had too many issues with our MikroTik L2TP VPN's that connect to other companies' Cisco routers.

PPTP VPN connections works wonderfully on the MikroTik routers, BUT then you get stupid Linux distros with poor PPTP VPN servers/clients - like RHEL 6.1 for instance - where we had to resolve to OpenVPN.

Good to know.Strange you mentioned that since i am in the process of purchasing the Mikrotik 750 for testing purposes.ISP definately has Cisco solution.Hopefully my
tests are successful.
