Does anyone have experience with Labtec products. I'm considering getting a webcam made by them. I do know that Logitech produces their products, so I'm wondering if the quality would be similar to Logitech's own products?

The specs for the Logitech and Labtec webcam seem to be the same, however there is a price difference of around R200 (Labtec being the cheaper one).

Any thoughts?

I have two Labtec webcams. On average it does the job, but the quality's not great at all. If you're looking for something with above average video capture, then Labtech / Logitech may not be for you!

Labtec doesn’t touch Logitech I am afraid...You know the saying "you get what you pay for" Well that applies here....I know my old man bought a Labtec keyboard and it was the biggest load of tripe I have ever used, it lasted about 3 months and was tired already. Spend the extra tom and go for logitech, that way you know you getting quality.

Labtec products are all the reject products from Logitech quality control line which are re- branded and sold off much cheaper , I would rather buy a Microsoft webcam if I were you , but if u need a budget webcam rather look at the Manhattan 1.3 M Pixel stock code # 460415 for around R 250 from esquire that comes a lifetime warranty, I am currently using one those 2 chat to my folks and bro in JHB and it works really well. In fact if my memory serve me correctly it had a very nice review in the SACM a while back.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm specifically looking for a CCD based cam. Went looking in the shops and couldn't find any - looks like I'm going to have to order online.

Allm the cams below is CCD

Incredible Connection will have what you need. They also stock Microsoft.
Just depends what you want to spend in the first plase.

Went to IC and specifically asked for CCD based cams. They couldn't find any. The MS cams all use CMOS - at least all the ones they had.
