Lagging all the time with afrihost? line or isp problem?

I do (or did), however the final verdict from AfriHost was "This may mean at the time you are experiencing latency on the Afrihost network, it could very well imply that there are additional users causing the network strain".

The ticket is #EGP-603-83673

I take it from the response I got that they do not know what is causing it, or that their response is accurate and AfriHost network is experiencing strain every evening. Both of which means I'm out of luck and will have to follow suite with the rest of the forum users on here complaining about AfriHost and jump ship. I'd prefer not to as I have been very happy with AfriHost and would prefer that hey fix the issue.

To be fair to AfriHost however, I will first test a few more games online in comparison to another ISP to see if the latency issue persists before jumping ship.

I see you created the ticket around the same time we did see some latency issues in KZN, these should be resolved now though.
Are you open to running further tests with our team? If so, I'll escalate the ticket through to our Critical Care team for a look through.

I am open to running tests and assisting. I will also specifically try out The Division this evening which is where it is very noticeable and feedback tomorrow.

Thanks for confirming, I'll pass on the query to our Critical Care team who will be your point of contact going forward :)

Thanks. They contacted me and were apparently going to monitor my online game play that evening. I haven't heard back on if they did or not and if they found anything.

Anyway, on a side note, I said I would test Elder Scrolls online with another ISP account, and I did.

So since Friday last week I have been playing Elder Scrolls online using Afrihost. All the other online players I see always jump around the screen and disappear and reappear all over the place. Not just once in a while, but pretty much every single player I see. I'm assuming lag. Last night I played Elder Scrolls online for 4 hours using a Vox ISP account, and I never saw one other play jump around, or disappear, or anything of the sort. Not in the entire 4 hours of gameplay. It was as smooth as can be.

This further indicates that Afrihost has a general PS4 online gaming latency issue. It's not specific to one game.

I did reply to critical care with this feedback as well.

Great to hear there's progress being made :)

Alright, where to begin.

I've been with Afrihost for a year or two, and then Axxess for the passed 4 years. I actually had about 4-5 different business and home accounts with them, excluding the mobile products. I've stuck it out, but I cannot deal with these speeds anymore. I have a 20mb dsl line, and 200gb CAPPED, unshaped account.

This is the same 20mb DSL line, Axxess capped vs WebAfrica free 1GB dsl

Axxess(left) vs WebAfrica(right) tracert to www.mybroadband.co.za

This is even worse when pinging EU, e.g WoW EU 451ms(axxess) vs 181ms(WebAfrica)

I've really had enough now, I've fought with them forever about these terrible pings on their lines,

TL:DR
170+ms ping with Axxess, 52ms ping with WebAfrica, same DSL line, unshaped, capped accounts

Done with Afri/Axxess. This is an ongoing issue with them

It's everyday, from 4pm until passed midnight. I can wait until tomorrow, sure.. doubt it'd change. I am currently in a wow party with a friend in Port Elizabeth, also on an axxess account, experiencing the same thing (every night from 4pm on)

Hi
Just got a 100mbps line from telkom with afrihost data,
A few you tube videos lagged last night and today
Seems interesting that the issue could be afrihost

I have cancelled my Afrihost account as they couldn't sort out the latency issues I experienced during online gameplay. Even their so called "Critical Care" department were no help.

Tried Axxess....their latency was better but still not great. Cancelled that too.

Same with a friend...he gave up on Afrihost last week too.

We are now both happily gaming on Vox.
