Hey guys
Dunno if this has happened to anyone else around here, but I've seen a couple of posts on the official forums regarding this problem (with no working solution of course)

Basically during the waves of trash in Hyjal, as soon as we start AoE'ing, I start lagging and then DC after a couple of seconds, I relog and if the mobs are still there I get DC'd again within seconds, however if its the boss then there's no problems at all.

I'm playing on an Acer 8920g Laptop (Vista Home), all settings turned down low, windowed mode (even dropped the res with no effect other than me being unable to use 2 of my button bars) and going through a 512 ADSL line (hoping to have that upgraded soon) and using WebAfrica Unshaped

The following has been suggested (I've tried most of it, with no effect):
- Turning sounds off
- Updating/removing addons
- Updating drivers
- Changing some network settings (Link speed and off loading)
- Deleting WTF+Cache folders in WoW directory
- Playing in full screen mode

Also, my girlfriend, sitting next to me during the raid (on an older laptop no less), lags a bit, though has no disconnects during the trash AoE's.

Anything you guys could advise would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Supes

I've found that DPS tracking mods (Recount et al) are most often the culprit in there.

GFX def. I had the same prob on my Lappy ;)

Try and save up for a machine and get atleast a 128MB card. I have noticed that when I added Memory to my Lappy it help'd ALOT !. If you have Vista and not 2GB memory... start there first :)

Thanks for the replies guys, I use Omen on Single target mode all of the time, even during AoE's and my graphics card is a 512MB GeForce 9500M, as stated turned down all the graphics options in WoW as well as in the nVidia Control Panel. I have a total of 4GB Ram, up to 700ish goes to video RAM if necessary.

I'll try without Recount tonight (or whenever I go next)

you have all that in a Lappy

Holy **** that is a nasty arse lappy  I think there is something else wrong :D

I had that issue until i turned off my combat log [search for it]. There's something about the log writing to your drive [into a log file] ...with all the AOE-spam i don't know if it keeps up. Especially if you use something like Omen+Recap/SStats etc. There's a script command [and a physical setting] to turn the entire logging off [it's not an Addon thing, it's the WoW client] .

Of course, playing in a lower resolution [800x600] and turning off all the effects, was also needed.

Lol, thanks Pitbull ;)

Thanks for the tip :) Though I am familiar with combatlog recording (for WWS) but AFAIK its disabled by default (I enable it when I want to record data for Kara/ZA runs, not for 25 mans) but I'll have a look for any other settings regarding this.

Question does it happen each week or just this one night?
You dont perhaps have a memory leak from one of your addons or some other program running together with wow? I know the AOE trash can be a huge hog on your resources, but by only truning down the spell effects it should be in most cases OK.
Your girlfriend is prob not running on a Vista operating system either?

Hmmm ... same thing happened to me last night in Hyjal.

**EDIT: and we were only 15 guys ... when we ran gruul / maggy with 25 everything was fine.

1) How much Ram do you have? (Vista is pretty hungry)
2) Are you running Vista SP1 (if not do it NOW, fixes a low of I/O access issues)

Happens every time I'm in Hyjal and last night it happened in BT and Slave Pens for the first time ever :/ Turned down all effects (inc spell) and no improvement. Yeah, she's running XP, I'd love to put XP on this thing but drivers simply don't exist for most of the hardware in it.

Sorry to hear, Gruul and Maggy have been fine for me for the most part, only ever DC'd once in Maggy.

1) 4GB
2) Running SP1

Its definitely getting worse, I noticed last night when I logged on my latency was around 350ms, which would have been great tbh, but after about 10 minutes of doing nothing in Shat it jumped to 780ms and then kept climbing after that. Before BT I rebooted and my lag went down again (around 400) but as soon as we started attacking any mobs it kept spiking. By the time we got to High Warlord I was getting anything from 1.5 - 3 seconds. This was on WA Unshaped, I swapped over to a MTN 3G card and saw a drop to about 700, but then after one wipe on High Warlord it was up to 1.5+

I've deleted my WTF and Cache folders, copied wow to another disk, disabled all addons (except omen and bigwigs as I wont be raiding if I don't have them anyway)

I've tried every registry hack and patch out there, but still nothing...

Virus? or another external program eating resources over time?

last night we had big problems in our guild with lag and dc'ing - try killing archi with 1200ms, it will make you a man!!

We got him on the 15th try (14 whipes) with 14 peeps making the last 10% all you can eat buffet.

Running Avast, keep it up to date and did a full scan about 2 days ago, doing another now, just to make sure.

Lol, too true :P

Funny thing is, now (mid afternoon) I ran Slave Pens and latency stayed under 400  Sigh...

I have problems with Avast at work, where I also run some memory hungry aplications. Try and disable its guard program while playing as a test. Closed ports in a firewall etc, can also be a problem, I had some issues with latency and Zone alarm some years back.
I had some issues with latency going up in MH a few weeks ago as well, verry simmilar to what you discribe. Changing from the Saix line to the Verixon one eliminated this issue. Me and Pornolio had some panic moments that night with transfering stuff over the neutral AH with Saix messing up. But in your case it with your girlfriend on the same line it is strange indeed that she does not have the same issue.

Been having exactly the same problem since Monday. Very high and spiky lag with constant DC'ing when engaing Kalecgos in the demon realm. I did update all my addons on Sunday, including a new version of Omen. Been driving me nuts. I'm using a Telkom unshaped 4g connection. Please even send me a private post if you have an answer.
