Lamborghini Urus SUV

New Lamborghini Urus SE hybrid lands in SA - here’s how much this 588kW SUV will set you back

The raging bull of the automotive world is on a product launching charge at the moment.

In the space of just 18 months Lamborghini has completely refreshed its supercar portfolio, replacing the Aventador with the Revuelto and the Huracan with the Temerario.

But the Italian marque has not forgotten its high-riding ‘bread and butter’ model, the Urus, which accounts for 60% of its sales.

Fresh from its international reveal in April, the comprehensively updated Lamborghini SUV, now called the Urus SE, has landed on South African shores, flaunting a price tag of R4,875,000.

Styling has been sharpened at the front and back, ushering in a more sinister look that takes some inspiration from the Revuelto.

Second-Generation Lamborghini Urus To Pack Hybrid Powertrain

Lamborghini has confirmed they’re developing a second-generation Urus, building on the success of the current model. Arriving sometime after 2026, it will offer a hybrid powertrain but retain the Lamborghini spirit.

Lamborghini’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Federico Foschini, acknowledged the need for a refresh before the 2035 European ICE ban. “We’re 10 years away from 2035, which is the year we should switch, but we can’t stay 10 years with the same car,” he told Auto Express.

Unlike Ferrari and Aston Martin with their bespoke SUV platforms, Lamborghini will continue utilizing Volkswagen Group technology in the next Urus. This likely includes a high-performance V8 hybrid similar to the Urus SE.

“We would be stupid not to keep using something that’s at the top of its technology. For us, it’s an advantage until the moment that we are not able to make a car that’s at the top of its game.” Foschini said.

The new hybrid Urus will join the hybrid-assisted Revuelto and Temerario supercars in a three-model Lamborghini lineup by 2026. The all-electric Lanzadore GT will follow later in the decade.

Here’s a one-off Lamborghini Urus inspired by Miami

The new paint is called ‘Blue Glauco’, and it’s set off by various black and grey lightning bolts to remind you of… a city that rarely sees lightning

Miami is a pretty cool place, and Lamborghini’s Ad Personam team have attempted to recapture its lively, colourful culture with this one-off Urus SE. Though we’re getting some serious anime vibes from that shiny new livery.

It took an extra 230 hours of painting and testing over a standard version of the mildly successful SUV to create, which likely includes several dozen hours of binging Naruto for inspiration. Er, we mean patrolling Ocean Drive.

Its colourways consist mostly of ‘Blue Glauco’ with streaks of black and grey lighting bolts and aqua-coloured pinstripes, all to pay homage to The Magic City’s mix of ‘style and artistic flair’. We’re not really seeing it in truth.

The cabin gains unicolour leather upholstery and bespoke kick plates, with a commemorative ‘Miami’ logo on the dash above the polished carbon fibre. The standard fixtures have been left to their devices, and include a typically jet-fighter-inspired centre console and a pair of 12.3in infotainment and driver displays.

The Rezvani Knight is an armoured Lamborghini Urus with electrified door handles

Love your Lambo SUV but live in a dodgy neighbourhood? Rezvani can transform it for $149k

Looking like a law enforcement vehicle that has managed to escape from Grand Theft Auto VI, Rezvani Motors has unveiled its latest military-style modified SUV as it attempts to “break away from the mundane”. Yep, it’s certainly doing that.

This is the Rezvani Knight, and as you might have spotted from the shape it’s based on a Lamborghini Urus. Only, this is what the Urus would look like if it was designed for some futuristic, apocalyptic dystopia.

Rezvani said its new ‘aggressive’ carbon fibre body was penned to combine the looks of “futuristic virtual vehicles, hypercars and military SUVs”. Whole lot going on here. Just check out that snout.

We’re told the exterior features angled armoured plates, while the rear end is supposed to be super sci-fi with its narrow taillights and pointed rear wing. Rezvani also fits 22in wheels and 33in off-road tyres, and we’re assuming the colour options will include grey, grey, slightly darker grey and possibly black.
