Lamborghini Urus handed new wheels, uprated suspension and 594 kW!

We've seen plenty of tuners use the Lamborghini Urus as a base for something special. And German firm Wheelsandmore is the latest, revealing its update for the super-SUV.

The package effectively comprises a new set of wheels, a bump in power and a tweaked suspension system.

The twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8's peak outputs have been hiked from the standard 478 kW and 850 N.m to 594 kW and 972 N.m thanks to a remapped ECU and the removal of catalytic converters. Interestingly, less extreme power packages are also available from the firm.

MOAR POWAAAHHH!

Prior-Design Lamborghini Urus Looks Downright Furious

German tuner Prior-Design has completed their first Lamborghini Urus offering and as you can see, it is not subtle.

In typical SUV-tuner style, some wider fenders are fitted to give it more menace and presence while the hood gains a rather large power bulge with vents. There is also a new front spoiler, a modified front fascia, different rear diffuser and not one, but two rear wings, one of the hatch itself and one at the edge of the roof.

Lamborghini Urus ST-X Due This Year With Hybrid Variant Coming Too

Lamborghini will be introducing two variants of the Super SUV in the near future with one of those directions headed for racing.

We are expecting the brand to go racing with the Urus ST-X by the end of the year with a final production version to appear during the 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Final taking place in Misano, Italy (31 Oct to 1 Nov).

Lamborghini Urus ST-X Due in October 2020

Lamborghini has confirmed an ultra-light Urus confirmed for Q4. See details below...

With the product portfolio expanding to include an SUV, Lamborghini has been able to conquer new markets and customers. This is especially true in geographies where its low-riding supercars are inappropriate for the available road infrastructure.

The Urus has presented Lamborghini with image and legacy issues. Purist followers of the brand questioned the presence of a four-passenger, high-riding, Lamborghini. And although Lamborghini’s engineers have ensured that the Urus has a driving intensity unlike most rival performance SUVs, there is no denying its size and weight.

Lamborghini has always prided itself at the rawness of its supercars, but providing agile driver feedback in an SUV that weighs more than 2-tonnes, is very difficult. A celebrated tradition of Lamborghini’s product maturity with each model it produces, is lightweighting.

The company’s Superleggera nameplate has been applied to its mid-engined supercars, denoted the lightest and most extreme versions. But how does lightweighting square with something such as the Urus: which is so large?

Urus in demand! Lamborghini's global sales rocket 43% in 2019

Lamborghini says its global sales surged some 43 percent to a record 8 205 units in 2019, up from the 5 750 units achieved in 2018.

The Italian firm has now registered sales growth for nine years straight.

Predictably, the Urus was the volume driver, with 4 962 examples of the SUV sold during the year. By our maths, that means the Urus accounted for more than 60 percent of Lamborghini sales in 2019.

The V12-powered Aventador hit 1 104 units in 2019, while the V10-equipped Huracán sold 2 139 units. After five years of production, the Huracán is now the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, with more than 14 000 sold (surpassing its predecessor the Gallardo, which achieved similar volumes over 10 years).

With 2 374 units, the United States was again the firm’s largest single market, followed by China (770), the United Kingdom (658), Japan (641), Germany (562), the Middle East (387), Canada (376) and Italy (370). A quick look through Naamsa’s monthly sales statistics (and some tallying up) shows 59 units were sold in South Africa during the year.

1016 Industries Lamborghini Urus Packs 840 HP (626 KW) And Aggressive Body Kit

If the standard 641 hp (478 kW) Lamborghini Urus is not enough for you in the performance or presence department, 1016 Industries in Miami have another option to satisfy those desires.

As you can see in the images, there is a significant body kit which includes redesigned front and rear ends that measure 87 and 100 millimetres wider than stock, respectively. Customers can choose to have their automotive appendages made from fibreglass, carbon fibre, or forged carbon and also have the choice of a satin or gloss finish.

Their Stage 1 power upgrade is also fuss-free and non-invasive and will push output up to 780 hp (582 kW) but their Stage 2 offering cranks things up to a ridiculous 840 hp (626 kW). 1016 Industries says the Urus will cover the quarter-mile in just 11 seconds with the Stage 2 tune.

Tuner unlocks 551 kW from Lamborghini Urus ‘Keyrus’ super SUV

German tuner Keyvany has whipped the wraps of the “Keyrus”, a Lamborghini Urus-based super-SUV boasting loads of carbon-fibre and some extra oomph.

Producing 478 kW and 850 N.m, the latter on tap from a low 2 250 r/min, the standard Urus doesn’t want for much in terms of performance. However, it seems that the tuner thought it could do with some more, and tweaked the twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 to produce a whopping 551 kW and 980 Nm. According to Keyvany, that's enough to propel the Keyrus to 100 km/h from standstill in 3,4 seconds, shaving two tenths of a second off the Raging Bull brand’s claimed time.
