Lan/Ethernet problems

Hi all
I just bought some new computer parts and it all, except the lan, works beautifully. It is a built in Ethernet port so i figured it works with the driver of the motherboard... i installed all the chip set drivers and everything i could and still no result.

I had this problem once with an old computer.. so i coned it into installing network drives by taking a lan card installing it then taking the card out again and using the one on the motherboard .. it worked.. will that work or is there a better solution?

The cable works, the lights come on .. and i cant install a network because it can't find the hardware.
I went to hardware devices and there is no Ethernet there .. but there is 1 unknown device.. before all the drives there were 4

Any help would be appreciated .. i want to test my new computer.

Have you tried right-clicking on the Unknown Device -> Update Driver and then let it update itself from the motherboard's CD?

/me just thinking surely there is an update for the motherbaord that fix's this.

Have a look at the motherboard's drivers page and see if there has been an updated LAN driver released

Hehe yeah... I assumed there would be an updated driver but I couldn't be bothered to go search for it myself, kinda busy right now

Anyone help me here ??

Have a Zyxel IAD P2602 from Telkom that's refusing to let me forward ports. Tried going to Portforward.com but the info there doesn't help. Before this i had the Mega200 VWR which forwarded ports just fine, tried re-installing the router but it doesn't help. Trying to setup a static ip, the second suggestion by Portforward.com doesn't help since there is no connection to the net after. Any ideas how to forward ports for P2p and torrent programs ??
