I drive a 2008 Disco 3 HSE. In town I get 11L/100km, on the open road i get 8.7l/100km not bad for a big car. Last year the maintenance cost was R14000 out of maintenance plan. I the 4 years i had it there was no major problems.

The D3 is a *very* hi-tech machine. As Voicy said, anything goes wrong on it, it could take weeks of labour just to find the fault.

Unless you have a bullet-proof warranty, don't. If it's still under maintenance plan, go for it.

Than again I know someone in the UK who runs a towing service and has a D3 with 560,000km on it, no major issues. It may have something to do with our sh*tty diesel compared to that in the EU.

Very good SUV, extremely capable offroad. Very reliable as well, that PSA 2.2 engine seems to go on forever, provided it is maintained correctly.

That's why I'm asking, my one mate has one and I've seen with my own eyes that he gets about 9l/100km on the highway cruising at about 130km/h.

His car is out of maintenance plan now and he takes it to a independent guy that does landies and the services are not that bad. He had a compressor(?) failure for the air suspension and I think he had to pay about R6k to have it replaced. He's very happy with his car.

The thing is to find a very good independent and know where to get the parts.
I get all my service parts from Dover in shelby (except the oil.)
