So my laptop charger packed up and received my new charger yesterday.

The charger comes with a car kit for charging using the car lighter port as well as AC power.

I would like to know if charging via the car charger will cause damage to the laptop battery or the car battery. I have googled it, but gives lots of conflicting verdicts.

I am looking for personal experience please.

in my personal experience the car charger can only charge the battery when the laptop is off, and then only very slowly. The charger should have a regulator if it is a good quality one. Normal laptop batteries charge at 18 or 19 volts. Car chargers can only supply 12 volts.

It is direct from HP, a bit hesitant to try it out without proper investigation. I forgot to mention I have a standard battery as well as an extended one connected to the laptop which gives me a total of ~4hours.
