Hey guys

Don't know if this is the right place to post, but...

I recently updated my GPU drivers... and now my Dota 2 doesn't work

Let me elaborate:

I start the game, and then the screen goes black, and then I can hear the sound and everything, I can even click on the links and tabs (in game) if I managed to click in the correct places. So basically the game is running, but just nothing is showing on the laptop screen.

I tried:

Installing normal Intel GPU drivers (From windows) game works... but lags like *****.
Uninstalling and re-installing Dota 2, same thing.
formatting and installing windows 7 again

:Conclusion: AMD drivers is the problem... but I could play previously, why can't I do it now? Maybe it's stupid, I should just go back to previous drivers, but I didn't know which I had.

The laptop i have is: Acer Aspire 3820TG
-i5 450m
-4GB DDR 3 ram
-1366 x 768
-ATI Radeom HD 5650 - 1 GB DDR3 Vram

I think that's about all the details I can provide.

Can anyone think of anything or something that may or could solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

that is rough, have you tried something simple like running dota in a borderless window or something instead of fullscreen?

Can you still alt+tab out of the game to reach desktop?

It also depends on where you're getting the drivers. Often better to use the ones offered on manufacturer's website rather than the ones from AMD/Nvidia.

That sucks. Try the stock drivers from the Acer site?

I had exactly the same spec but on a Sony Vaio. Played Dota2 like a beast till the GPU melted:cry:

I tried all that, and also with the console command as well: -novid and all that jazz

still no luck.

I downloaded the AMD drivers from AMD.

Alt + tan does work, and I can still hear the dota 2 sound in the back (Ie games still running...)

dam it... so annoyed..

I had this problem before, but I dont know how I fixed it, try completely removing both the Intel GPU and AMD driver then only install the AMD driver.

I actually tried that before formatting my computer, and a BSOD came up...

Also, try removing your Dota2 config files located in steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/dota/cfg and then in the launch options described above, add +autoconfig
