Anybody have a 256mb 8600m graphics card running on their laptop (can't remember if it's a GT or GS or whatever else the differences are). I recently ordered a new laptop for work and ordered the graphics card as a little extra.

Will I be able to run new games?

The laptop is a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ram and the above card running on a 17inch WUXGA display.

Actually, as long as it runs Starcraft 2 I'll be happy, but I'd like to see what other new games look like. I've had to stick to 2 - 3 year old games for the last while.

Thanks

I have an 8600m GS, Managed to run Call of Duty 4 ok at 1440x900. Obviously not on high settings. Bioshock also ran ok on low settings. Runs Half-life 2 and Team fortess perfectly. Havent really tried anything else. the card is a little faster than a 7600. My laptop is a 2ghz core 2 duo and 2gb of ram, running vista, 17" widescreen.

*sigh* I'm still using my 6800m. Would love an 8600m. Are there 8800s for lappies?

Oooh. I'll be selling my old Corolla in the next couple of months (hopefully) and will then be VERY keen to look ar one of those, bdt.

Please do. In the interim, we have a NP9260 (the immediate predecessor to the NP9261 there) kitted out with dual 7950's running SLI (and 2 80gig, 7200rpm drives in RAID0) that you would be welcome to view, to get a feel for what they're about.

Cool, and I see you're in JHB too. Mebbe next week? Will you drop me a PM with contact details?

What does one of those go for?
