Hi Guys

So my laptop, got fried during a storm about a week ago!

My insurance is replacing it and these are the options that they have given me. I am leaning towards the first one.

I am a computer science student. So what suits me more? my old laptop wasn't fancy, it was an hp i3.

Which one would you guys recommend and why? I don't play games, I use it for school stuff and coding in Java. I would like to watch a movie every now and then and maybe use it for work after University.

I need to let them know tomorrow.

Thanks a lot guys.

They are all good.

But I would take the Lenovo because I play games.

Thnks, Which Lenovo?

The first one, and I agree. It's the only one with an i7 processor, dedicated graphics, 8GB Ram AND SSD. It's seriously overkill for a bit of Java programming, but hey ... your NetBeans will really fly! :D

I'd take the LENOVO Z5070 59421362 IdeaPad or the Dell E540

If the Dell had NBD on site warranty I would have gone for that. But in this case the first Lenovo seems to be the obvious choice.

The Z5070 is the most impressive out of that list. It wins on the display resolution alone. If you'd like an alternative for comparison, there is the ASUS FX550JK. It has a better GPU (GTX 850M) and a much better 1080p IPS display. I'm not sure what prices you're being quoted or if you have to pay excess, but that's an alternative should the Lenovo be out of stock.

Thanks guys the excess is separate R1200 but that includes laptop, TV, router, and cordless phone. I decided on the Lenovo. Thanks for all the help. They actually didn't give me any prices just replaced the items with either newer versions of the items or something similar. The laptop is the only items where I was given a choice.

Thanks a lot again.
