hi all, have a prob wit this laptop. the B and F2 key seems to not work. i have taken out the keys to check if maybe the tiny plastic holder things are broken, but they are fine. is there any solution to this?

oh its a asus A6Rp

also, as the Fn+F2 keys are used to switch on/off the wifi/bluetooth, it obviously doesnt work and now the wifi/bluetooth is always on which decreases battery power. is there a way to maybe change the F2(wifi) key and make it lets say F4? so then i can switch it off using Fn+F4?

if all else fails should i just get a fold up keyboard?

Ps: check my othe thread "faulty motion pad" :(

You can try open the laptop and clean the part that the button connects to. Use wet wipes or a cloth with surgical spirits, very little.

There is not much you can do with a faulty keyboard - except replace it - or use a external. As for the bluetooth always being on you should be able to disable it via the hardware manager. Some laptops also have a hard switch to turn it off.

Replacing the keyboard is best if you travel a lot with it.

There are generic replacements avail for most laptops.

I had the same problem with my old Fujitsu-Siemens. I spilled coffee on the keyboard and some keys stopped working.

Got myself an USB keyboard to type with and if I was too lazy to take it out, I used Windows XP's virtual keyboard. Think you'll find it under Accessibility in XP, not sure where it's hidden away in 7.
