I'm looking for a program that can automate a number of things to reduce the power consumption of the battery.

like: lower the brightness, reduce the screen resolution, decrease cpu load, switch of BT, and wireless network.

any1 knows where I can get such software. I want to use it to increase battery life.

I've got software like that that came with my Acer, basically you set profiles with all of those options and then just choose the profile you want to use at the time. You might be able to get something similar from your laptop manufacturer.

That is the thing I'm talking of, I have a dell D600.
even if there is such a utility

there is no generic software to handle what you want, sorry.
items like screen brightness etc are all handled via proprietary bios calls, so would be individual to each notebook manufacturer.

switching off bluteooth and wireless lan may be accomplished via some windows scripts, and the processor cpu speed should be automatically variated by windows (set the power profile to portable/laptop) if you are using somethign semi-recent and not a desktop cpu-on-mobile chassis configuration

on my acer, i reinstalled windows "home" that came with it, with XP Pro... right click on the battiery the bottom right corner, and select (max battiery save) some thing like that... & as the battiery goes lower.. so does the brightness...

ACER 3630
