Hi All, my Sony Vaio took a tumble and the power button has moved into the next world. Anyone know of a reputable (and fast) laptop repair agency in Joburg?

When my laptop gave trouble I just watched some Youtube videos and fixed it myself. Oh the joys of technology!

Rectron seem to be the official Sony repair people. I don't think it'll come cheap, but good luck.

not under warranty?
I have never heard of a warranty covering a dropped laptop. Accidental coverage insurance would though..

I am sure that latches of the enclosure are released (or broken). Power button is displaced and not engaging the switch (which is a part of PC-board). You must dismantle laptop and put it back after checking for damages. Download service manual first, you can do it yourself.

blue mobile, midrand if out of warranty.
though that fall probably voids the warranty in anyway.

Hi All,

Just to close this out. We ended up going to SCANET in Edenvale. The owner's name is Claude and he was extremely helpful, quick and professional. I believe Matrix uses him for certain repairs. He comes highly, highly recommended.

The fix anything from laptops to LCDs to HDDs, etc. If you'd like to get in touch contact him on 083 3510 136 or 074 4950 321.

Thanks for the tips and advice.

What was the problem and how much was the repair?

Turns out Mr Claude is totally unprofessional and a waste of time. He doesn't bother to reply to emails and seems content to turn away business.

Highly NOT recommended.
