Laptop shutting down at 80% battery

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T440 running Win 10 Pro. During December I installed a Samsung Evo 860 SSD. I did a fresh install of Win 10 Pro and re-installed all my apps again.

The last few weeks my laptop will shut down when the battery is at 80% capacity left. It will boot up again when I press the power button. I have searched for some solutions but cannot find a solution.

What I have tried so far:-

1. Removed the battery and inserted again.
2. Disconnected the internal battery for about 30min and connected it again
3. I have gone into Power options and changed the Plan settings.
4. I have made changes in the Advanced power settings menu

None of the above solved the problem. Any assistance will be appreciated because it is really frustrating. Maybe I'm just missing something somewhere. Thank you

You need a new battery. One cell is probably dead.
Don't throw it away, you can use other cells for a torch.

What I did was running it completely flat until it switched off. Don't plug it in yet! Switch it on again and wait till it switch off again. Do it until it doesn't switch on anymore. Plug it in and let it charger for hours. This reset the capacity calculations and worked for me.

Try updating the BIOS and seeing if there is a battery saving option which you can test/disable in the BIOS.

Since you did a fresh install go to Lenovo's site and install the exe's that might impact power. Might as well install Lenovo Systems Update and select the power options
