So what you guys think of this HP Envy 17 Laptop for R16999.90
i7-4700MQ - 2.40 Ghz
16 gb Ram
2 Tb HDD
17.3" Screen
2 Gb GT740m

Fits in my requirements

i have the 8gb RAM, 1Tb HDD and 15.6 screen spec, it is a good laptop just doesnt have a ROM, but with external HDD and flash sticks who needs ROMs..... i think its good

Personally I would stay away from HP.

Their local support has been shockingly bad in this country. No idea what it like these days though.

hmm all dealers said they have been quite good with repairs, returns etc.

Is that personal experience or what you read? Also never had problems with any of my acer laptops so never experienced returns etc. been lucky.

Have a look around here for old threads for LetMeRepair (LMR) and no doubt this will bring up a lot of first hand accounts of what they used to be like for HP repaira.

I believe someone else is handling HP repairs these days, so as I said it may be a different story at present. Surely it could only get better.

And yes I have an old HP laptop which fortunately for me I did not have to send in. Never been impressed with it much.

How is the heat generation on this? Heard one or two complaints that it runs hot?

Been reading about the newest envy 17 like one I want and dont seem to find any complaints or problems with it seems like it was only with the old models they had problems.

Playing WoW on it right now and its almost silent you can barely hear the fans.
