Hi,

I hope someone is able to give me some feedback.

I have a question about connecting two monitors to work on three screens with a laptop. The one monitor has a vga and the other is a dvi cable (blue and white in case I've identified these wrong).

I don't really see laptops with these ports so I was thinking of getting a hdmi hub as well as vga/dvi converters to hdmi. Would this work?

Alternatively, would getting one converter to hdmi and another to usb work?

What's the best solution?

Thank you.
Marvin

P.S.: I haven't bought new laptop yet, so if there is anything I need to look out for, I'm all ears.

If your laptop has VGA, cool, just connect one monitor to that and if it has HDMI output as well, you can just get a HDMI to DVI adaptor - a lot of new business orientated still come with VGA but that's changing quickly... obviously new monitors with newer standards (DP port, HDMI) would be the ideal solution. not so ideal for your wallet though.

Extending laptop screen or mirroring? For the later VGA splitter or HDMI hub will work . Note, not working in native resolution on LCD screen bring washed result (not good to read text). So it will work the best if these 3 screens have the same native resolution.

For the former check chipset capabilities, some are able to drive two screens, some three. If you plan to use USB VGA adaptor, you should use USB 3.0 port, as 2.0 is to slow. Note that multi-display on two different display adapters is not so seamless as on the single one, keep it in mind.
