Laptops for game design

Hello.

Id like to go and study Game design at Vega 2016. It's something that is very intriguing and i sure hope i can fully secure my place.

I'm here to ask for hints when buying a laptop for the study. I'll be buying one closer to the end of the year, and with all this new technology coming out, such as this: http://www.pcmag.com/news/344911/samsungs-powerful-new-ssd-is-smaller-than-a-stamp. I'm sure that laptops will become for efficient rather quickly.

Any suggestions or people excited for something new coming out towards the end of the year? :D
 
Samsung hasn’t revealed the interface which the drive will be using, so it’s highly likely that the PM971-NVMe will end up being soldered directly onto a motherboard, or interfaced using an M.2 card.

If it can't connect to a NVMe port then you're going to have to wait quite a bit for new laptops to add support for this.
 
Just about any laptop will do for lectures. You will need a grunty PC to do the hard work when not at lectures. Don't bother trying to do work on a laptop - you'll just make it more difficult for yourself.

Make sure your PC has a big screen (>=32") and if possible 4k (taxes in SA are dumb. Buy a TV and use it as your computer screen and you can save >50% on the price - the mind boggles...). Get a nice keyboard (cherry reds are my favourite for coding) and mouse and some good headphones and you'll be fine :)
 
I have a Proline P670re3.

It has the latest Skylake cpu and chipset, which supports a native NVMe x4 PCIe port.
I installed a samsung 950 Pro 512gb in this slot, 2.4gb/s read speeds make the laptop really nippy.

There is also a P650re3 which has the same specs but a smaller form factor.

Basically look for laptops with skylake chipsets, and then you also need to check if it features the x4 PCIe NVMe slot.
 
It might be late, but you had a chance to win AORUS X7 laptop, dismantle and learn. :)
