Hi folks,
Hoping to get some advice. For some reason unknown to me, I keep getting time out errors on large downloads like updating iTunes and some gaming clients. I'm unsure whether it is a modem issue or whether it is a Telkom line issue that I need to be reporting to them.
I'm using a Telkom branded Billion 400G Wireless modem on a Telkom 1Gb line with telkomonline.net ISP account.
Download speed is fine at 0.8Mbps with upload at 0.4Mbps. Downloading small updates and files are fine, it's just with larger files that it seems to time out - I haven't been able to test more or less at what size it times out at, as I can't really afford to run out my cap by continuously downloading the same updates just to see at what stage the time out occurs.
I have had issues where the browser seemingly struggled to resolve addresses and as such I've set my DNS to Google (8.8.8.8) and this seems to have speeded up the browsing experience.
Any other suggestions as to what may be causing this?
