Largest websites in SA

The DMMA/Effective Measure stats typically give lower unique visitors, but higher page views. Some info on it here: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/inter...re-vs-google-analytics-vs-nielsen-online.html

In principal, I have absolutely no problem with the methods used by any company in tracking web activity, this include the DMMA, EM, GA, and all the rest. That is just fine, as you will never get an accurate figure in any event.

However, I do have a problem with one company tracking 70 members. They exclude all websites who are not members. This include huge sites such as Google, and I can name hundreds more that SA internet users visit on a daily basis. Many of these sites get way more visits than any of those on the DMMA list.

I have no problem with the DMMA releasing stats on their member sites, that is fine. However, claiming them to be the most visited in SA is blatantly wrong. Just simply by excluding Google, who probably get 1000% more visits than all of DMMA members combined, and that simply because Google did not sign up with them.

The DMMA should rather attempt to include as much sites as they can and make use of new technology before they can actually attempt to provide info on the biggest sites.

I guess, all I am trying to say is, if you want to indicate South Africa's biggest websites you should at least monitor all the hundreds of thousands of them and not just selective sites. Just make sense in terms of accurate statistics.
