Hey guys I need to have a touch up done as my left eye is not right.
It is .5 out but was my dominant eye so its an issue.

Doc wants to charge me for it, not sure how much but wanted advice.
Is this right that he wants to charge?
I mean he should have got it right first time dont you agree?
I complained right away that it was not feeling right but they had to wait a minimum 3 months.

Advice would be great

Thanks

It failed because you did not come to me afterwards so that I can kiss the eina better! :p

Seriously though, I do not think he should charge to correct it. What does your medical aid say meneer? Maybe they can give advice from their perspective?

Does not sound right, but would you really want him to work on your eye if you "forced" him to do it for free?

Its not right, but in all honesty I'd rather pay then force him to fix it for free, LOL

I don't understand why he's even put you in the awkward position of mentioning a charge. Surely it has to be free as it never worked first time?

How much did he mention btw?

Here's my take.

There are no 20/20 guarantees with the procedure (did he actually tell you that?). Going back for a 'touch up' would entail expenses (not talking about his time here) which is fair I reckon but in the same breath you should not have to pay the full price either.

I would discuss this with him and ask him how much he intends charging you for this.

0.5 dioptres is the equivalent to of two lens increments I think. Your brain could potentially adjust I 'think'. Mine are not perfect either but it does not bother me, granted it's my left eye that's slightly weaker.

Either way have a chat with him.

I called about 4 different places and they all say it should not be charged for.
I did not get the quote yet but just called the doc and went off at them.
I find it disgusting that they want to charge when I have been complaining about the eye since almost 1 x week after the operation.
I am completely pissed off.
I was in the consultation and was expecting this but after calling around and listening to other places saying it should not be charged for, this just infuriates me.
I spent over 24k on this and am not a happy camper.

you shouldnt have to pay, my doc said i have a two year period in which he can do corrections, just need to pay for any other related medical services.

Post the details of the doctor here so the rest of us can steer clear.

my left eye is not right

and it will never be. try not to put so much pressure on your left eye. it can get self conscious about the right eye being the better of the two. :p

On a serious note, the doc can go f himself. He has to fix it since he had to get it right the first time around. When I had lasik done, this was the understanding I had with the doc. If he ****s up, he fixes for free.

That's true, even though you have better than 20/20 vision, your vision settles after a few years... but being OUT by 0.5? That's insane

Spoke to doc he won't charge but the hospital charges R4k nothing I can do about that as they are not one business.
Don't have a choice

Hmmm, bittersweet. I'd still say it has to come out of his pocket though and if he had any scruple's, it would. It's not about the money for him. More about his professional pride.

That's what I was referring to earlier. Good luck though!
