Title says it all. What is a better option? Get a refill done or to buy new toner? If refill where is a good place to get it done in Joburg? Model is a Samsung CLX 3180fw.

Thanks

Um, I'm assuming when you refill, they also use new toner. How else does it work, do they take printed pages and suck the toner off them somehow?

 Very

Edit: Here's a place that sells toner refill kits. http://www.tonerangel.co.za/

Although looking at their prices it might end up costing pretty much the same as buying a new cartridge. Samsungs are relatively cheap, from what I understand. Never had to replace my cartridges yet though as I don't print a lot at home.

I would recommend new. some of the refills are of very poor quality and make quite a mess out of your printer.
Depends on the price difference in the end...

There is a difference between refilled and remanufactured toner....

Refill is just that.

Reman. They empty the waste compartment and change a few components and fill with toner.
Some reman places offer a warrantee.

So chose between original and reman.

Refill you will get toner spilt in your printer.

Love out inkjet printer with continuous feed system. Print quality is great, and costs are min. Not everyone's cup of tea, but works well for us.

EDIT: yes, not much help in answering the post, but is a reference point for low print cost, which I think is related.

Have been refilling our HP for years now. No hassles. You cannot get Samsung refilled anyway as far as I know...the "refillers" need a specific code and the Samsung ones not available. Same with Oki as well.

More and more samsung toners come out with a chip inside. The chip is approx the size of a pin head. Unless the chip can be duplicated it cannot be filled UNLESS the person using the toner stops printing before the chip reads empty and then have it filled. Or at least that was the way it worked a while ago. In that regard refilling is not worth it as the person filling it will simply say "sorry bud, we will not warrantee the refill as we cannot see the condition of the toner. Nor can we be held liable for manufacturing limitations".

Seen it happen many times.

I tried a refurbished toner for a Samsung printer and won't waste my money again. It prints OK and is doing its job but since most tonners now have a chip on them the printer keeps on flagging the toner as empty.

To get a new chip and tonner is nearly as expensive as a new one from Samsung.

I always use refills but get them from KMP Print Teknik in Capricorn Park. They are a German Co and guarantee their product. Been using their stuff for 22 years and if there is a hassle, they replace it immediately. Cost is about 1/3 that for new. They zero the chip as well
