Warning: 24Gb Promo data bundle rip off!!
I have been to vodacom customer care and spoken on the phone with their data centre. I now know what trick is vodacom is pulling.
Let me explain:
1. Their pay-once 12GB and 24GB data bundle promotions was advertise as "R999 for 1GB of data every 30 days for a year, and R1,499 for 2GB of data every 30 days for a year". And when I purchased the 24GB data, I also got the sms saying: "You purchased a Vodacom promo data bundle. You will receive a 2GB data bundle every 30 days for the next 12 months. Your account has been debited with R1499.00".
2. After that, every time when the data bundle comes, I get an sms saying: "Your 2GB Vodacom promo data bundle (x of 12) is now active and will be available until the end of next month." where x is the number of the data bundle.
3. So what it looks like is you will get a 2Gb data bundle every month for the whole year with each bundle expires the end of the following month.
4. But in truth, that is not what it is happening. What is happening, which is happening to me right now, is the following:
I brought the data bundle on the 1st Jan, and each bundle comes every 30 days, and each bundle expires end of the following month. So I have list a table showing what is happening and will happen:
Number --- Date of active --- Date of expire
1 ------------ 1st Jan -------- 28th Feb
2 ------------ 31st Jan ------- 28th Feb
3 ------------ 2nd Mar ------- 30th Apr
4 ------------ 1st Apr -------- 31st May
5 ------------ 1st May ------- 30th Jun
6 ------------ 31st May ------ 30th Jun
7 ------------ 30th Jun ------- 31st Jul
8 ------------ 30th Jul -------- 31st Aug
9 ------------ 29th Aug ------- 30th Sept
10 ----------- 28th Sept ------ 31st Oct
11 ----------- 28th Oct ------- 30th Nov
12 ----------- 27th Nov ------- 31st Dec
So because of vodacom playing with words and their inconsistency use of the unit of time. We, the user, loss the data that suppose to carry over from July onward.
I would like to lodge a complaint against vodacom and let other users know about this problem.
I will also copy this to my top post and change my topic title.
Vodacom Representative, you can reply to this thread to respond to my complaint.

Me and my gf purchased the Pay-once 24GB data promo in the beginning of the year. So every month we get 2GB of data. Before I brought the bundle I have asked vodacom that any leftover data for that month will be carried over for next one month ie. so every 2GB will expired in 2 months. It has been fine up until last month, when I have built up 4GB for last month. I have used just over 2GB last month. And I noticed in the beginning of the month that last month's left over didn't carry over to this month. So I thought it was a system glitch and it will sort itself out. Now yesterday when my android notify me I have used 2GB for this month I went to check how many data I have left. And to my surprise the data didn't carry over. Then i asked my gf and she also didn't have her data carry over.
So now my questions:
1. Has anyone here experience this?
2. What should I do?
3. Is there any vodacom representative here that can help me?
Thanks
