Right so the last payment went off for my vehicle end of August.

Was through ABSA, what is the correct procedure from here to get it registered on my name etc

Thanks in advance (never paid off a vehicle before and always traded in before paid for - hence the question).

I did this recently.

Contact ABSA to get them to send the required documents to you.

There should be:
The original eNATIS document of the vehicle
A certified copy of the ID book of the bank's representative
A letter confirming you have paid in full
An application form in which the bank has fulled out its details, in which you have to complete the vehicle's details and your details.

Take these documents with you to a licensing department. Note that you cannot do this at a post office. Bring your ID book - they will make a copy of it there and certify it for you. At least, they do in Randburg. You will need to complete the blue form - just sections A and C. And, bring R170. I was able to pay via credit card, but bring cash just in case.

And that is all. You are just changing the title holder. They will give you a new eNATIS document.

Just don't write it off now.

There is some kind of of physics law that dictates once you paid your car off it ends up on a scrap heap...

Congratulations!

Thanks and if that's the case I'll get more for it than on a trade lol.

You will need proof of address as well.

Fek...I completely forgot about this when I paid my car off, may need to get around to doing it.

That being said. As much as I would love a brand new car above those we currently own. It just feels so much better not having any car debt. I dread the day I need to buy a car on finance again...

Amen.

Only paying off my bike now. I don't expect that to take more than another year or so, hopefully...

But I worry that soon I will need to buy another car. Mrs Bad's SEAT is now 9 years old and 150k km (and that's our youngest car!) I don't know how much longer it will remain reliable. Hopefully a good few years.

Not sure what will be next. Certainly not a new vehicle. Just out of plan C class diesel maybe...?

What transaction were you doing there?

OP, bring proof of address just in case, would be surprised if you need it.

Change of title holder.

Rules say ANY Natis transaction needs PoA.

After the above:

Take it to that roadworthy place in Menlyn Motor City, that's where I did it.
