Latancy problem

I have a problem with the stability of my connection so I did some tests.

Using the E620 data card I do a ping trace to a site and get good results, the ping time to the first hop is 178. Then at some point in time when I do the trace again I get much worse results i.e. the ping to the first hop increases to 1763. The only way to solve this is to disconect and connect again. I have full signal on HSDPA. Has anybody had this problem before?

Also as a matter of intrest why is there such a massive jump between hops 4 and 5. I have noticed this in all the traces I have done, and the traffic stays in the MTN network?
 
The biggest latencies come from the radio network and depends on congestion and availability of timeslots etc at th specific times.

4 to 5 is from MTN network to ISP MTNNS network.

I assume then that hop is via radio network? If you can improve that link it will be great. How about the original issue I mailed you about?

We've been chatting and it looks like it could be something on the Radio network

I've escalated it to the Radio guys let's see what comes back

This morning the connection here in PTA central was so bad I could not even resolve IP addresses (full signal on HSDPA). Suddenly now things are better than I have ever seen it. I dont know what they fixed but I hope this network settles down and becomes stable and reliable because I can not work like this.

MTN are experiancing some problems with our data network engineers are working on the problem there will be planned work done tomorrow morning,

Please keep me posted and let me know if there's been any change

P.S. Sorry for the delay I've been out of the office the better part of yesterday and today.
