First of all, I'm an online gamer. So my latency is very important me. I signed up with Afrihost, and have averaged a latency of around 170ms, which is decent for South Africa connecting to European servers.
However, from about 2/3 weeks ago, my latency has been through the roof - ranging from 250ms to 1200ms. I am also randomly disconnected.

-Telkom has checked my line line twice, no fault on my line.
-Afrihost has reset the account on their side twice.
-I've asked Telkom to recreate my port and resync the line about 5 times.
-I've even tried setting a static dns
-I briefly switched to OpenWeb, thinking there was a problem with Afrihost, but the same latency issues persisted.

When I spoke to Afrihost AGAIN this morning, they seem to think it is the Telkom exchange port that is problem, saying that my downstream speed does not match my line speed (or something along those lines).

Soooo I phoned Telkom again, but they are insisting on reporting a fault on my line (which we have established is not the problem) and not necessarily reporting a fault at the exchange as such.

Does anyone know what I can do to further? Even where I can check to see if any work was done on the exchange recently? I am so frustrated at the moment with this issue, does not look like anyone is willing/able to help.

We had lots of reports of high latencies in the Cape Town area, so far Camps Bay, Wynberg, Paarl, and other areas. It seems to be a Telkom issue, and we are trying to get a response from them. We'll let you know as soon as we can get more information.
