Latency on HSDPA/3G

Then i have no idea. Have you tried creating a manual connection setup on windows?

Well MDMA only opens the manual connector for you, it only tracks your data usage and sets the modem mode.

But I think tonight I'll try doing a manual connection On MTN and Vodacom anyway and one trough VMCLite.
And I think I'll disable all my add-ons and see what that does. :o

I doubt it's your addons. That ping is insane  Might be that you are in a Business area now and the towers are pretty busy, once at home in an Urban area it should be better. But I have no idea why it is that high.

Have you tried different APN's ?

MTN's APN's are:

MyMTN
internet

Just ask the guys in the vodacom section what theirs are

Well Douglas is a small town. Vodacom only has one tower with HSDPA here, so that wouldn't make a difference. :o

But the APN might be something...... ammm because I'm not using one :o

I sent a message to vodacom3g and he said it wouldn't make a difference as they all use the same infrastructure. :(

It does make a difference on my MTN connection sometimes, maybe it's just a different setup than Vodacom's one

I found this. It shows the APN's for Vodacom. I'll give them both a try.

All data connections (phones, modems, data cards, etc.) require an Access Point Name, to allow you to connect to the network.

There are different APN's for different functions. Think of it as a VPN and you'll get the basic picture.

All Vodacom internet users can use either the 'internet' apn or the 'vlive' apn that was introduced after the internet apn to give you direct access to the VLive! portal.

Yea, so try Vlive as one and internet as another. Don't know if Vlive will allow you to connect to WoW though :o

O and remove that PM quote ;) It's banable

Just in case, there was no harm but they are very strict on that rule

you'll just get an infraction permanently dude, its not off the bat bannable depends on the content. Shame, stop being a drama queen pitbull ;)

Ok, so I've done some testing. Here is what I found:

Huawei E220
VMCLite Vodacom 900ms-1300ms Second test 1050ms -1800ms
MDMA Vodacom 1100ms-1650ms
MDMA Vodacom 1950ms-3900ms (EDGE)
Windows Vodacom 900ms-1200ms
MDMA MTN 1100ms-1650ms (EDGE)
Windows MTN 1400ms-3900ss (EDGE)

Samsung D820
Vodacom 2750ms-3550ms (EDGE)
MTN 1400ms-2200ms (EDGE)

APN test
VLive 600ms-1500ms
MyMTN 800ms-1050ms (EDGE)

So then I tested with no addons and using windows to dial.
Vodacom HSDPA 750ms-980ms

So what I can say it that the addons do add some ms, but I'm having trouble without some of them lol And I was really surprised with the MTN on APN MyMTN. It was really stable and really good if you take it was only EDGE.

But still these are very high. I really don't know what more to try :(

Oh, and I don't want that ether :o

Ok, so I've been reading on the wow-forum and it seems some other ppl are having a similar problem. Latency and being kicked problems

So I ran a trace rout... and it's pretty messed up. It never even gets to the server, no it never even got past the second hop.

Tracing route to 80-239-185-45.customer.teliacarrier.com [80.239.185.45]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 * * 142 ms 10.113.95.2
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.

2 146 ms * 226 ms 10.113.95.2
3 * * * Request timed out.

That's just two of them, there rest look the same. This was for the Lightbringer server. :(

Something ells I've noticed was that it was using port 4146 or port 4180 on my pc, but the port wow uses is 3724. Trace route

I have been having some lag the last few days. While staying in Klerksdorp for the holiday season, I had some connection issues on Saturday and Sunday.

I played again yesterday in Joburg. While I didn't have any issues to connect like Sunday, I did have higher than normal latency, always over 1100 while I usually get around 800 beforehand. There were also a lot of lag spikes, sometimes lasting several seconds. I had to fight a orange unique and hit a lag spike just as the fight started. I survived, but with about 15 health and a active DoT on me. Not pleasant.

This is my char on the Lightbringer server. I will check this evening if I have the same problems occurring on Blade's Edge as well.

When I tried playing after the tests I got a latency of between 2400ms and 3500ms. So I gave up around 11pm :(
I did try one of the recommended RLPVP realms and my latency started at 3400ms there. :( So I'm having the problem on multiple realms.

There is something very very wrong with your connection.

I play on about 900/1000ms if I'm forced to play on normal GPRS. How the hell can you be sitting with 3.5k ms  PM V3G and ask him to try and have a look at your area or something.

I've been thinking it might be something with my laptop. Because it does it over two networks and with two different modems. And then there is the thing about the ports used that differ

Have you tried a new clean install on your windows ?

I had all sorts of ups and downs on Vodacom 3G, which is why I eventually got ADSL. Best speed on 3G was abt 500ms in raid... but depending on weather, busy times on the tower, etc, it could sometimes go as high as 1.5k. Vodacom Customer Care knew me by name :p

Well I've just been playing now and it was between 1000ms and 1700ms most of the time. But usually about 1300ms I stopped now as it went up to 3900ms. :(

I was testing how it would play if I use an "unrestricted" APN, but no luck. :(

I'm installing a new copy now. :o

And I'm just using 3G now to level, I've ordered my ADSL line in the middle of November and I'm still waiting :(
