LATENCY!!!

Things are still looking Excellent!! pings are down , dl speed good... AND with even greater news today!!!!! COD blackops to have servers here in CT hosted by mweb .THANK YOU mweb.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now the pings are down and ready for action OH YEAH.
@ WIll .. just say a huge thank you to all the ppl that put an effort into getting the alliance with gameservers.com You guys just made alot of SA gamers very very happy. and keep up the good work

There's just one 'new' problem. With MWeb no longer doing IP transit, lactency to MyBB now goes via London...

Thas just hopefully for now.. good move on mwebs part and hopefully the others will give in ad accept the free peering option. Still good and bold move ..

Thank you to all involved in sorting this issue out. It's greatly appreciated!! Thanks MWEB and WebAfrica. It may be early days, but I haven't had any problems that I have noticed in a couple of days now.

The MWEB move on transiting is good for the industry. Everyone else just needs to get on-board now hopefully.

WA issues better but not solved...

I am getting spikes every 30-45 seconds

ping is at 40ms, then ingame net_graph jumps to 100-120ms for a brief bit then down to 40ms again. Anyone else experiencing?

Any feedback on latency today guys?
Things have been fairly quiet this side.

Well, connection seemed fine on my side this weekend - got sub 10ms pings to www.webafrica.co.za most of the time. I was away for work last week so don't know when things got better and I am not sure whether it was good this weekend just because of the Rugby. Did Telkom change anything? Or do we have a temporary reprieve only?

It seems like *something* was fixed at Clareinch, possibly a Metro Ethernet related issue which had a wider reaching impact, but my official sources have not been forthcoming with a proper resolution. Any luck from your side Jeff?

Clareinch has definitely been very stable for the last few days (sub 10ms to tenet.cinx.net.za for 24 hours a day).

I stopped running PingPlotter on 27th Oct, and haven't had any slowdowns since then.

I stopped around the same time after a full day to Telkom.co.za at 36ms average. Also my line upgrade finally came through last week syncing at a very healthy 8mb :)

Latency has been pretty decent on Clareinch except for last night when it was spiking a bit but I haven't seen widespread complaints so I guess it may have been something else.

Your FarmVille John Deere tractor must be very fast at those speed eh? :-)

Just got ADSL last week and had good latency results, with a ping of 58ms and 1ms jitter. Now my latency is about 120ms and my jitter is up to 114ms. While browsing is still normal, gaming is impossible.

Tested with Openweb and Afrihost.
