Can anyone tell what kind of pings are acceptable for WoW?
I just got my HSDPA card and was wondering what sort of comparisons there are to say ADSL and I-Burst?

Thanks in advance

Baron

Could you post your ingame latency with HSDPA?

WoW is playable up to 1000ms (possibly a little more), but the experience is not too fun at those latencies.

To US on unshaped ADSL you can probably get about 500-650ms, and can push this lower if you use proxy/tunnelling services (300-450ms)

The best I have ever gotten on iBurst is 700ms. Typically it hovers between 900ms and 1300ms. Using a nukecap VPN I got about 600ms.

I average around 400-500ms on iburst but I am using my own local socks upshaping server.

It works!!!

Hi Guys,
Just opened my WoW software and there it was...latency ranges from 440 to 850 depending on where u are.

I'm off to the pub, cheers!

:D :D

I get between 340ms - 800ms any time I play. (192K line)

Best game I have ever played in a long time. I am going to test my HSDPA card this evening and see how it performs.

Cheers

Bastard guy. I am going to use NukeCap again this month to get decent pings.

I get about 500-700ms during peak times (shaped 192kbs)

I get about 380-650ms during night...

My best is 300ms....and worse was 1120ms in Molten Core..:( LAAGGGGG

Ok guys...

I tested my 3G card last night. I did not get a nice full signal for the 3G but I got the high speed connection. I got between 400ms to 600ms in the half hour that I tested it. It work a treat and it is more then playable. I just need to find out how the monthly billing work. I have a 500mb package and I would like to find out if I loose my left over MB the end of the month.

Cheers

Tried and tested are :

Saol Shaped : 700-1000ms
Webafrica Shaped : 750-1200ms
Webafrica Unshaped : 400-500ms!
Cheetah (IS Account) - >Lowping VPN (Nukecap) : 400/600ms Sometimes 700
Webafrica Pre Paid Saix - >Lowping VPN (Nukecap) : 500ms/600ms
Cheetah (IS Account) - > Unmetered Gaming VPN (Nukecap) 500ms/600ms
Webafrica Pre Paid Saix -> Unmetered Gaming VPN(Nukecap) 450ms/650ms

Imaginet Unshaped Freestyle+ : 280-500ms!! This by far is the best option i seen in latency terms. Not only does the latency remain constant outdoors/instances...You keep same latency in Stormwind/Ironforge. I have often seen latency bar green in quiet areas soloing and peak areas yellow. Red is very rare and often server side lag. These pings also went 30ms higher during peak time. Although unshaped and uncapped. The downside is very expensive

These tests i have done on Hellscream Euro Server. The imaginet was the clear winner that i have seen.

I dunno why they are better...when all Isp's use the same unshaped backbone...I am not a pro on that stuff :P

Anyone on TelkomInternet that can give me their WoW latency.

I dont think its worth paying more for a 200ms decrease in latency, right?

I'm on TelkomInternet, but my stats won't really help you, because I'm on a VPN where I get between 400 and 500ms pings. It's a VPN for the members of the Dark Rage guild and it's made SUCH a difference - really cool!

What impact does having a 500ms latency have in something like PVP. Are we at a huge disadvantage to say someone with one that is 120? Is there that much of a diffrence? Should I be depressed and hang my head in shame?

Im usin the freestyle package from imaginet, shaped. spoke to the guys there about their unshaped package, they play WoW and they tell me that there is about a 300ms difference between their shaped and unshaped package, at the moment i get about a 700ms average, using the socks server supplied by Squish as some of u might have heard of.So, using an unshaped and with the stats stated above by Borgir(without a socks server),which kinda helped cos ive heard it twice now that they have good ping rates on unshaped, definately worth the extra R100 a month..

Im changin to unshaped atht eh end of the month.PvPing will be a lot better..., time for me to gank sumone else for a change...lol

I'm using TelkomInternet ADSL 512 and I get high latency when playing WOW -I've done some investigating and it seems - because I'm in JHB and it's not just the hops to WOW servers because I get the same result when I tracert any International server - This is the result:

Tracing route to www.l.google.com [66.249.85.104]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.2.1
2 14 ms 13 ms 14 ms dsl-146-64-01.telkomadsl.co.za [165.146.64.1]
3 14 ms 15 ms 13 ms rrba-ip-er-1-fe-5-0-0-1.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.43.10.185]
4 14 ms 16 ms 15 ms rrba-ip-er-1-fe-8-0-0-2.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.43.11.154]
5 335 ms 337 ms 337 ms ash-ip-dir-equinix-pos-6-1.telkom-ipnet.co.za [196.43.9.146]
6 336 ms 334 ms 336 ms pos2-0.cr02.ash01.pccwbtn.net [63.218.94.17]
7 336 ms 337 ms 337 ms google.ge6-4.br02.ash01.pccwbtn.net [63.218.94.34]
8 344 ms 344 ms 342 ms 216.239.46.19
9 342 ms 342 ms 341 ms 72.14.238.233
10 * 342 ms 342 ms 66.249.94.234
11 339 ms 338 ms 338 ms 72.14.236.213
12 417 ms 415 ms 416 ms 72.14.236.221
13 426 ms 424 ms 424 ms 72.14.233.105
14 425 ms 425 ms 425 ms 66.249.85.104

Trace complete.

As it clearly shows hop 4 to hop 5 IP 196.43.9.146 is the guilty one!!!
I even called Telkom and the server that s causing the high latency is in durban and they told me that they were working on them - I don't thing on this particular problem but work was been done on them and it could be the cause.
I just hope they do fix it!

iBurst user here - I'm about 300m away from Olivedale tower.

I get on average 550-650ms latency most of the day, also depending on the area (i.e. inside Ironforge latency spikes, but it might be server lag added as well)

Recently I started seeing positive improvements, late at night I get as low as 420ms pings.

No shaping, no proxies, straight up connection.

Regards
