Hi,
I want to buy a new Samsung tv for my room and I would like to go the 40" route, I am currently looking at either the 40EH5300 for R5999, this is one of the new LEDs or the older 40D503 for R3999 with a R500 voucher back, will be used mainly for watching movies, could use an xbox I have to stream the movies to the TV. Is it worth paying the extra for the 40EH5300?

Thanks

Samsung UA-40D5003 40" Multi System LED TV from HiFiCorp for R4999

Thanks for the replies so far, the ua40d6000 seams to have the same specs as the 40eh5300 but the one is 2011 and the other is 2012. Is the screen quality on the 40D5003 better than that older LCD version?

The UA40D6000 will be ahead in picture quality. 6 Series vs 5 Series. Also has 100Hz compared to 50Hz of the EH5300. I would not recommend any diluted models like D503/D5003, these only have 1 HDMI port with no HD USB media player.

Closer to the ES6200 which replaces it. The EH5300 basically replaces the D5000

Will be a bit sharper with a full 1080p input as it has the UltraClear front filter vs. the D503's matt filter.

So EH5300 vs D6000? Does the 6 series over 5 make up for the year difference in release date?

Yes, the D6000 has higher rated motion handling (so basically higher spec DSP) which also allows for 3D, not present on EH5300.

And all else will be equal?
Mostly, both have Ethernet, DLNA & SmartHub (EH obviously with newer one).

The housing/backlighting is different, D6000 being slim & edge-lit while EH5300 is thicker & back-lit. Back-lit should provide better uniformity, but this hasnt been a problem on the D6000 as it doesnt have a micro slim bezel.

Thanks, I will have a look if I can find it for R6000 still and have a look at the two demos.

EDIT: Can't seem to find anything from Dion Wired advertizing that

More, you should look. Hmmmm (yoda)

Dude, call dion wired (nicolway), ask for salesman called lucky. Tell him Nico referred you. Tell him you want same deal on D6000 (if the deal isn't specifically running as per advert sheet)

None at Dion Wired country wide :( apparently game bought the last few from the warehouse and selling it at much more

Sweet! How's the lighting uniformity when displaying a black image in a dark room?
Still setting up the networking but will post later..I will try with HD movie on a USB.
So far looks good.

Looks like I will have to go for that one then, really unhappy with game. Hope the EH5300 is also OK...R1000 more but I don't think I will find something like the D6000 for R5000 again.
