Would a 19inch 5ms resp with a ratio of 700:1 be any good for gaming?:confused: And how do people play on wide screens monitiors? Does it actually work?

I wanna buy a decent LCD monitor! I enjoy gaming and am looking for the best a Price and range to suit my pocket as im pretty broke and will be going into Over draft for it!

If it is a widescreen it should automatically give you a shrunken and aspect adjusted image. So you'd end up with a black wasted space on either side. Some games can however take advantage of widescreen, but this is developer specified.

Interesting to note that screen designers have tested large (mainly for TV use) displays and found that the human eye gets irritated with too large widescreen images. But this is only a factor when you buy something the size of a bed. ;)

Try sitting in the front row at a cinema for an entire movie.
 
Set ur games resolutions to 1440x900 for wide screen. Several games dont support 1440x900.

Ok it looks like i will be getting the Standard 19ich Lcd flat screen! Iplay a few games,i just dont want the day to come when i cant play a game i really like! beacuse the screen resoulution or size dont match! grrr :o

I hear that there are monitors which have a connection for a "Ps2" im not sure what the connection or plugin is called so please educate me!

Im thinking that that is the best option at the moment! But what of my graphics card? Would i have to plug the cable back and forth into the TV tuner and grapichs card?:rolleyes:
 
I have just bought the Acer AL1951C 19" LCD which is a "gaming" monitor.
I purposely did not get a widescreen as many games dont run with the 1440x900 resolution and it even looks stupid in some modern games.
For development etc the widescreen is fantastic but thats where it ends.
The AL1951C is by no means the cheapest but there are others that are equally as good.

CRT beats LCD hands down!!!!!!!
My 3 year old 19 inch Philips 109E5 kicks my brand new 1920x1080 LCD's ass!
CRT is so much better for gaming :eek:

700:1 contrast ratio is quite bad. The blacks are not black. Black does not even look that good on a plasma, and they are 10000:1. (games are often dark)

See if you can still find a good 19 inch CRT. It's your best option. :)

I agree with you fully 56kMan. I bought a 24" Samsung 244t and sent it back because of the huge amount of input lag. Am using an Apple Cinema 23" display at work at the moment and while it is perfect for office use it has extreme ghosting when used in games. My GF has a Fujitsu Siemens lcd and it is so hard to make out details in dark areas.

I am using a Viewsonic P90f 19" crt at home and should it break I would be at a loss at what to get that could even equal this crt for gaming... Damn I wish Sony still made that 24" widescreen crt!

I agree also. I have actually sent my Acer back and asked them to reduce this as the blacks look very crap although the rest is fine and the games were not dark.
The screen in general is so glarey that I had to dump my black keyboard and put the ivory one back.
My old monitor is a Philips 109E CRT and still is the best.
 
@ Shank the Samsung 244t I told you about has RCA inputs but it is definately not the standard for computer monitors I'm afraid.

Looked around a bit to see what others say about using a tv tuner and it seems like you would possibly get lag:http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/12556. If you can wait I am going to buy a vga box to connect my ps3 (when it is launched) to my monitor and I can let you know how it goes.

OK shot i will do that spark! thanks for the links it was much help. Im so sick of looking for a decent LCD that im gonna start crying i tell you!

But im gonna just carry on untill something comes up!
 
Strange that so many guys are having problems with LCD. :confused:

I got myself a BenQ FP93GX last year and I haven't looked back once. Colours are brighter, no ghosting (that I can see anyway), no dark spots.

The problem I think is that some people are more sensitive than others. They pick up small defects that others don't. If there was just a way that people could test the screens they're thinking of buying. I took a big risk buying the BenQ. Luckily it worked out for me.
