LCD pricing comparison

ahh, these prices are way too expensive. Here in Durban, monitors are certainly more affortable than the prices reviewed.

DO NOT BUY TOPVIEW LCD's. Most horrible stuff ever, same as entry level Samsung WS. Crap picture quality.

WHY THE *&^%$*&(^%&^$% ARE WE TALKING 5ms????????????????????????????????? You TALKING ABOUT INFERIOR PRODUCTS.................. SOCIETY DOESN'T MOVE BACKWARD.. WE MOVE FORWARD!!!!! LETS SEE THE 2ms PRODUCTS FFS...

a LCD cannot go faster than 5ms. Are you one of those noobs that fall for marketing tactics ? what lulz

OH WAIT MY SOUND SYSTEM HAS 50000 PMPO! THATS 47000 more than your 300 RMS. (PMPO = GIMMIC)

MY LCD HAS 50 000:1 CONTRAST RATIO! THATS SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOUR 4700:1 CONTRAST. (CONTRAST RATIO = highest that an LCD can go is 4600-4800:1) and then you get other stuff like DC RATIO and GREYSCALE CONTRAST etc etc.

The article talks about 'investing' and now being a good time to do it. I assume they mean 'not buying' a piece of IT tech which will be outperformed and cheaper 6 months down the line as 'investing'?

The better the panel and colour reproduction, the worse the response rate. LCDs for gamerz have fast response rates but junk colour reproduction, high end monitors still go at 12ms or even 24ms but have true 8, 10 or even 12 bit panels and colour. It's all about the S-IPS vs M-VA/P-VA vs TN technology.
That's why high end NEC, LaCie or Illiyama monitors are junk for games, but all these Samsung monitors are junk for any colour correction on video or photo editing.

Gah. I don't like Widescreen for work. I need HEIGHT, not width, in my display, and I currently work at 1600x1200 resolution. I therefore either need a square screen LCD monitor, or a widescreen which still supports a vertical resolution of at least 1200px, which is going to be VERY wide, and VERY expensive!

You do know that most graphics card software drivers give you option to rotate the display on it ?

you do know that our eyes cant tell the difference between 2ms and 6ms... so not sure what you are harping on about.
Ive recently bought a Samsung 2333SW 5ms (1700 from axis), it rocks...

so before you start using caps again, find out the facts...

Incredible Corruption is having a special this weekend (3-6 Dec) on most of the LCDs listed as being sourced from them in this article.

The 'special' prices beat all the other prices listed in this article. Not sure if they are a better deal in terms of value for money once comparing their models against others in the same size categories tho.

e.g. the Samsung 2233SW LCD is R1399 on special.
etc...

Got a T260 @ Incredible Connection for R3000 Friday, must say it is bigger than I expected but oh so pretty :D
