But on the LG SA site it doesnt mention about being able to watch you tube or get movies live online
In just says there is a wireless link
Sport is 50% of my viewing...
Its 1.sport, 2.gaming and everything else and maybe some 3.movies
The LA32C530 would be my pick. It's the most popular and most documented of those TVs.
However don't not include plasma because of its previous cons which you perhaps still thought applied today. The PS42C430 is the best deal on a TV these days. It's amazing quality and size you get for your buck, much better than any entry level LCD you mentioned.
Cats have it for R5800 (http://www.catsdigital.co.za/samsung-ps42c430-42-plasma-tv.html)
OP, what is your budget?
Dude seriously? Do you see the initialisim LCD and your brain automatically goes, troll my plasma, must propagate my plasma.

It's frustrating, isn't it?
Postman ..
If they ASK about plasma, then SPEAK about it.
If they don't, then stay away.
Believe it or not, others do the see disadvantanges of plasma screen and base their choice on what they need.
Which the LG 32C530 is not a mid range LCD, for a 32" it is pretty darn good, also 50% of his viewing is sport? On that LG he would have little to no problems with it, where as the other things like gaming he'd have a problem with on the plasma, as yes you may not have suffered IR but I've seen it with far more expensive plasma's then you have, and read about it on the websites. There are even websites dedicated to it, why make up websites for it? Is it the LCD conspiracy?

Let the OP go out and make up his own mind, stop punting this Plasma everywhere you see someone asking about LCD's if they said oh I don't know look guys I'm undecided between this LCD and this Plasma, go for it, jump in with all your delight and convince the guy, but my sack if the dude is asking about a set of LCD's probably cause of budget to, then butt in where it's relevant. Especially since you are telling him to get a 42" for a viewing distance of 2.5meters.
To Dolby, it's incredibly frustrating, it's like the dude has never encountered an LCD out of 2007 or something...
There is no past cons of plasma, what the OP is concerned about is still 90% the truth, there is still IR/Burn In/Ghosting, it still does use more power even if it is slightly and yes it is still older technology then LCD.
No, ghosting is the problem that plagues LCDs which is why people buy plasmas.
Couldn't care less if it's slightly older - it's a moot point. The 42" plasma will give the best experience out of those TVs, and that is what matters.
OP, don't forget that cut scenes and cinematics constitute as a "break" for the plasma cells displaying static images which leads to IR.
Either way, plasma owners on this very forum say they game for hours on end with no IR whatsoever. I guess they are also Samsung employees with ulterior motives.
Personally if I had a plasma and it did have IR I'd also be like oh that it's fine, it goes away, because after spending R6k on something I'm not going to badmouth it, I've seen it personally on a few sets and sometimes it does go away after a few minutes and sometimes they've got to use pixelshift or whatever the name is.
We had about 6 plasmas here at work playing sport and various other channels, it was brilliant to see the cricket scores after changing to watch Rugby etc... The Plasmas are gone and we switched over to LCD's and lo and behold it was like night and day, the IR was gone and oh my look the SD TV quality isn't that bad after all, neither is the motion issue, but it is so nice to not see the previous games scores on the current game. You have been lucky or you spent 100 hours keeping it at a lower contrast, and honestly if you were doing it out of the interest of the OP's you'd actually read their bloody requests... He sits at 2.5m from the TV, 42" is too big for this.
Actually ghosting applies to both LCD's and Plasmas, the reason why it occurs on plasma's is due to the pixels not being able to shift quickly enough or suffering from a little retention, ghosting on LCD's occur when the response time cannot refresh the pixels fast enough, which has been fixed since oh I don't know around 2007 when screens came out with Response times of under 8ms.
Do you actually read links people put on here? Or does your brain turn off when you are proven wrong, you know the link I put up abou Break in, burn in and IR? It is quite an interesting read and only 6 months old?

I actually not going to argue with you anymore, the old saying seems to hold true in this case.
Lupus ... thank you ; someone else that understands.
I've also mentioned that after spending R6,000.00 - you're not really going to badmouth the product and, more than likely, play it down. I find it strange how NO ONE on MyBB have had issues - yet EVERY review seems to make reference to it. Also, if there was NO issue, the manufacturers themselves wouldn't warn and have FAQ dedicated to them.
I still would be hesitant to play Xbox 360 on my plasma - especially for the first few months. My 2.5 year old plasma (R12,000.00) did have IR even though people told me, 'don't worry, dude ... thing of the past! Only effected 1st generation!'
