The launch of the Diamond was a success with many media and mobile telecoms representatives attending. The venue "catwalk" in fourways was filled with dancers, a violinist and a safe in the center of the stage. Great performance that played off the Diamonds are forever and mission impossible theme.

The safe housed a R40 000 diamond that was given to the audience member who had the correct key for the safe.

The phone itself was very impressive, especially after i just attended the iPhone 3G launch.

Immediately I can tell you the Diamond is the better phone for me. It has a 3.2m camera compared to the iPhones 2m. Diamond is smaller than the iPhone and the screen on the Diamond is better than the iPhones. The diamond also has a G sensor that changes the screen from landscape to portrait when turned.

The best part of the DIAMOND is the 3d TouchFlo. This take GUI to another level. It sits on top of the Microsoft Mobile 6.1 which is also a masterpiece now.

This phone will attract a wide audience of customers from business to kids and will enhance the presence of LEAF within Southern Africa.

Thankx For this.:) I am 50-50 for iphone and HTC Diamond, If the Diamond goes for less than the 16GB iPhone, I will go for the Diamond. The iphone is also getting many MS Apps like office soon

also heard a roomer of the Australian operator launching the 8GB iPhone for $350(aus dollar is weaker), on prepaid.

only thing sux bout the diamond, is that it is 4GB only, no MicroSD expansion, you perhaps know if a MicroSD version will be lauched soon?

HTC diamond will go well too, it's selling for R5400 in the states.

July 20!

You perhaps know if Incredible also deals with leaf, or where i could get this for the best price, and still be able to fix it nearby?

does leaf sell these directly, howmuch?

Good point the diamond does have limited storage of 4gb.
I do not know about pricing but i assume iphone will be more expensive.
I will find out about distribution but i know vodacom and mtn have orders for a 1000 phones each. That is big for a new phone. Also the fact that this phone will be available before the iphone helps.

Nothing on Leaf's website, in fact the last press release they did was in August 2007.

Is this the kind of service we can expect from leaf?

You are on the wrong post as we are talking about a specific handset. Post your complaints on helopeter or create your own post where we can discuss Service management.

The HTC touch pro or Rachael as it's known is the same as the HTC diamond except it has a full qwerty keyboard as well as a micro sd slot. Should be here soon too:D

That will make text inputs alot easier. I wonder how much thicker the phone will be?

HTC designer: "Hey Bob, that new iPhone is very popular, lets copy Apple's design and make a new HTC that also looks sleek and stylish so it can *try* to compete."
