Hi there Guys

There is currently a rumor doing the rounds that if you have a learner license and a learner driver sign in your car that you are allowed to drive alone on the road. I want to know if there is any truth around this story as i have been told by numerous people that its not true

I reckon a traffic cop would be the person to ask. Hop into your car and go find one.

He will appreciate the question, I am sure.

Definitely not true. However you can drive a bike with only a learners as long as you do not lift anyone. (not too sure if there is an engine displacement limit on this though, don't think so)

Code 1: Any motorcycle

* Motorcycle up to 125cc - 16 years old.
* Motorcycle above 125cc - 18 years old.

And no, you can't drive a cage alone with only a learners.

I really don't think such a rule exists, it would defeat the whole purpose of a fully licenced driver being there and guiding the learner driver.

A rumor or rumour (see spelling differences) is often viewed as "an unverified account or explanation of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern" (33)[1] However, a review of the research on rumor conducted by Pendleton in 1998 found that research across sociology, psychology, and communication studies had widely varying definitions of rumor.[2] Thus, rumor is a concept that lacks a particular definition in the social sciences. But most theories agree that rumor involves some kind of a statement whose veracity is not quickly or ever confirmed. In addition, some scholars have identified rumor as a subset of propaganda, the latter another notoriously difficult concept to define. A pioneer of propaganda studies, Harold Lasswell defined propaganda in 1927 as referring "solely to the control of opinion by significant symbols, or, to speak more concretely and less accurately, by stories, rumors, reports, pictures, and other forms of social communication" (1927:9).[3] Rumors are also often discussed with regard to "misinformation" and "disinformation" (the former often seen as simply false and the latter seen as deliberately false, though usually from a government source given to the media or a foreign government).[4] Rumors thus have often been viewed as particular forms of other communication concepts.

That is why it's a rumour. :p

if that rumour is true then i need to find a deserted island to live on.

That rumour could triple the number accidents....

This "rumor" was around when I was still in high school (2003), don't know who started it, but damn, its spread like wild fire.

LOL, if you did your Learners licence then you would know the answer. Also phone your insurance company to confirm as they are the ones going to screw you over when you have an accident.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the questions in the learners test :p

But no, you have to have a licensed driver in the front passenger seat or directly behind the learner driver if for some reason the licensed driver can't sit in front passenger seat.
