Learners "stone teachers"

there are still some parents who believe in the "old school" and discipline their children. so this whole "parents don't discipline their children and want to leave it to the teachers" is a load of bull as far as i'm concerned. it's a cop out.

yup, lyfstraf isn't the only way to go about it. Although I still believe the belt/plank/rottang was called 'moegepraat' for a reason

eh? what europeans? there are no europeans in south africa. we are all south africans. europeans can be found in england, france, italy etc.
Huh, what. ANC way, nay?

When I went to school.... I don't recall ever seen these things happen, or even heard about it.... but then again, it was mostly WHITE schools.
We usually didn't get caught.

Does that justify burning down schools and destroying property?

My father worked for Stocks & Stocks (they built a lot of the then "rural" schools in the 80's) it was sad to see him, after finishing a contract and handing over the school only having too see it be burnt down and looted a week or so later by the students...

i don't think you have any right to take away the constitutional right of the children. and that is exactly what you are doing. it is their right to an education you need to uphold your part in this whole equation. as a parent who pays their school fees up front at the beginning of the year, my children have the right to that education. take it up with the department of education in other ways not disrupt the years learning process.
and then the educators wonder why there is a failure rate of such a high percentage.
the matrics are in the middle of trials, this is important to them right now, and you think your strike is more important. i hope you remember when you did your trials, you weren't interrupted as rudely as this.
the children are now being forced to endure the trauma of witnessing such hooliganism if they go to school such as happened yesterday at the school mine go to. did you have to go through this when you were at school? then you ask yourself why are the children acting out in such terrible behaviour. it's exactly because of the way you and your fellow teachers behave in front of them. these children are in your presence the majority of the day and you are supposed to set a standard which they are supposed to follow, yet you display such hooliganism and expect the children to behave like angels.

I didn't say I was a teacher, I said I work at one of the schools (not state employed)! Yes I pay my schools fees in FULL, and don't ask for the remissions I am entitled too as a tax payer! All I stated was is I support the teachers in their cause as they are being screwed over, I do not support the strike action! 99% of theteaching staff at the school where I am are still at the school and teaching, despite the threats from S.A.T.U.

As for you comment about terrible behaviour! The behaviour of the youth today is SHOCKING!!! and it's not from the teachers! It's from the parents! My son is polite and well spoken (he is only 9) and that is not from school it is from upbringing!
