Hi all,
So due to some thing I need to do at work, I should learn FORTRAN. I know there is a couple of versions and so on. I need to learn FORTRAN 77 (the one with the fixed width rules and so on).

So I am looking for suggestions about where I can learn it and what might be a good approach. My current background - MATLAB.

P.S. If you're on Carbonite, I'd appreciate if you replied there?

Thanks!

How proficient are you at writing procedural code in Matlab?

I'd suggest grabbing a compiler, firing up Google and going through the first few tutorials you can find. It's what I did. Then if you have questions, post back and we can provide answers.

Are you sure Fortran is the only option? Many HPC scenarios also let you write code in C. Would likely be more help on this forum for C questions.

No idea what procedural code is. Although i can say matlab is easy. Maybe example?

Its some old code base i have to modify so fortran preferred. C also an option though i am guessing integrators are easier to do in fortran being a scientific field focussed language!

Wouldn't you rather learn a more current and widely used language - like... ancient Hebrew?
