LeD headlights

My 1st question would be "Why would I need them?"

Do I often drive on unlit roads? Do I struggle to see in these roads with my current lights? Do my normal bulbs keep failing too frequently? And similar questions.

I guess it's more about aesthetics

It gives your car the xenon look without blinding other cars like aftermarket HID kits do,

Ofcourse the added benefit of more road being lit up hence more safer night driving

Yeah uhm aesthetics are the best reason NOT to install a kit.

It pretty much always looks like cheap aftermarket rubbish...which is generally what it is.

Next you'll tell us you also use the fog lights all the time for aesthetics :p

As to the light on the road, is your current light not adequate because the vehicle is old? (it happens). Does it not shine far enough ahead (normal driving lights, not brights, it's not supposed to)?

I've seen these in an old ford escort. The one that looked like the fiesta from the front. What a difference they made over the original lights. What is best about them, is that they are not like the HID kits that need a substantial amount of fitting. These are plug and play exactly where the old halogen bulbs went. I cannot see a down side.

I'm putting em in both my cars. Probably the bike to after I've seen how they go in the cars.

Yes pinball, no need for projectors etc

Where are you getting them from?

Please let me know which cars you plan on fitting them on as well

Try not to blind anyone please.

There is a reason those kits are illegal in a bunch of countries...

Havoc if u read the detail on the website that's exactly what these headlights don't do hence making them a viable option

This. I don't see why anyone would do such a thing? Who changes their lights just for aesthetics, and to top it all off, you can't even see them from inside your car.

Maybe the vehicle is old and has crappy lights?

My vehicle for instance, the original lights aren't great.... BUT in saying that, I wouldn't actually put these on my vehicle.... the one big issue I can see with the vaguely affordable ones are that the electrical connection would now live outside the headlight housing and thus be exposed to the weather... can't see that being good for lifespan.

I don't think what you referring to is the same thing that the OP is mentioning. He is referring to a normal bulb replacement were instead of having a halogen bulb, the element is an LED. Much like simply swopping out a globe.

This is not an HID kit.

Yes this is a led bulb as a direct replacement for the stock halogen bulb.....meaning the same led headlights that now come as an option with the polo gti and tsi

I'm referring to the Elite series on the website that is protected against the weather and any fault errors

HID kits are also (often) "simply swopping out a globe" (well plus ballast). They're just three different ways of generating light (filament, arc and LED).

Using LED over HID is not inherently any safer.

Because the description says so. Right...

You simply can't safely put a much more powerful light source into an outdated assembly designed for a weaker light source. Whether that more powerful light source is LED or HID is entirely irrelevant.

At a minimum you need to replace the assembly with one designed for the type of bulb and ideally also a self-levelling system.

See here for a more detailed write-up on why you can't (safely) put extra bright bulbs into old housings:

I have yet to see a unit that sits outside in front of the headlight. Can you post a pic???
