LeD headlights

Fitting them to your vehicle if they don't have SABS approval will be illegal .

I have yet to see a unit that sits outside in front of the headlight. Can you post a pic???

Don't be like that, he said outside the headlight housing (so it can also be in the engine bay), and that bay is exposed to weather as well (and roadsplash), or is your cars front grill not a grill but solid? ;)

I don't think what you referring to is the same thing that the OP is mentioning. He is referring to a normal bulb replacement were instead of having a halogen bulb, the element is an LED. Much like simply swopping out a globe.

This is not an HID kit.

Go and look at the pictures on the site..

There is an additional piece of kit that the standard electrical connection attaches to that will now live outside the light housing. This is then plugged into the light which fits into the standard housing.

Yes this is a led bulb as a direct replacement for the stock halogen bulb.....meaning the same led headlights that now come as an option with the polo gti and tsi

I'm referring to the Elite series on the website that is protected against the weather and any fault errors

The elite bulb is probably IP68 weather resistant, but it has the same issue as its cheaper brother. A box that will now sit outside the headlight housing.

Please note that Extreme Lights do sell very high quality parts. It is not your local China shop stuff.
Doing a strait swap from Halogen to HID is just stupid, especially on H4 bulbs.
Where your lights is very bad, LED does offer you an upgrade without pissing off other road users.
Winner is of coarse projector lamps, but they not cheap.

Some further reading if anybody might be interested in HID for their car.

I have tried the HID kits and found them to be complete crap!
H4 is the worst by far.
Yea, they might "look" cool, but that is it.
Currently I am running HID Projectors and that is the best, but also way more expencive.

I have not tried the LED headlights, but I have Extreme Xph headlight and all I can say is "Man, that thing is bright!!!"
