LED lighting strips for ambient light behind TV

Anyone put some ambient lighting behind their TV using LED light strips?

Where is best place in Cape Town to get these?
Which brightness is best?

I first saw this advertised on a Panasonic TV almost ten years ago, the lights changed colour in accordance with the dominant colour shown on the screen. How would the TV interface with external LEDs, or do you just want a single, solid colour?

No that's something else.

This is to make the blacks blacker but more so to remove the depth problem your eyes have in pure darkness making it easier on the eye.

Lighting up the wall behind the TV gives your eye a point of reference and so you can focus on the screen better.

I've done it with a fluorescent before but the flicker became an issue as the light got older.

Would love something that is powered by USB and switches on with the TV.

Usually I would, but I've started my living room project already and need it next week still.

Ambient coloured lights although somewhat the same (they are lights behind TV's) is something else all together and requires some software connectivity to change accordingly and make the screen seem bigger than it really is by adding a larger colour projection.

The light we are speaking of is a pure white 7000K backlight.
