LED lights?

Ive got a massive UPS arriving on Monday, but this is for PC`s, TV`s, DSTV, etc. Based on my watt calculations the stuff that I want on there is 1310 watts and my UPS that Im getting is only 2.2Kva. So I am cutting it really close.

I was looking on BoB for lighting options for my house. Originally I wanted to get those LED spotlights you see in malls (the ones with the batteries) that automatically switch on when the power goes out, but I cant seem to find them at a decent price.

So I was thinking of perhaps getting one of these for the lounge/kitchen:

And then placing a bunch of these around the house:

Ive been told I should get 4 hours out of it at 1400 watts constant. If I use my laptop instead of my gaming machine I should be able to double that.

Try it, I am not so sure. But this is not my field, I wanted to opt in for this, but I don't know don't think you will get that.

Please keep us updated I am really interested.

I won't mind getting a 2Kva UPS instead of a Generator.

This is being built by a friend of mine. Only reason there is a delay is because someone in town bought up all the batteries and invertors. So we are waiting for stock to arrive :/ Im paying the guy R500 a month over a year for what is being built Will let you know how testing goes

Whats the VDC on the UPS system ? I can tell you how many hours backup time you will get.

As for LED lighting, theres tons of **** around and the good ones are R100 + . Always try before you buy.

Loadshedding has been canceled for the foreseeable future.

I think that work light is a bit rough for indoors rather just get the normal rechargeable kinds.

Just while the factories are on holiday. Either way, the power goes off here in East London enough without loadshedding for it to warrant this type of investment.

I think that work light is a bit rough for indoors rather just get the normal rechargeable kinds.

Yes, everything is being supplied, and in its own case. Yeah, my googlefu returned the same results. Makes sense, the guy who is building it has comx as a supplier so I am not suprised he got the inverter from there.

I bought a few LED downlights on BoB in 2012. Still going strong till today. Used in the lounge daily. Dimmable 3w. Paid R10 each!
Though there are some dodgy one's out there, so its a chance you take with the el cheapo's...

Ha Ha things are only going to get worse before they get better so its a good investment. Why dont you buy a few solar panels to do the charging as well then you have a complete setup?

The dimming is nice, if you bounce it off the ceiling it should be fine as well.

I thought of solar, but I am renting. So I cant really put anything permanent on the roof. I also thought it would look funny with a wire going into the garden to a solar panel lying on the grass there or something. Perhaps I should look at a panel or two and find a place to put them.
