Maybe ask him to be more gentle with you next time?
Not able to walk properly the next day is one thing but being crippled for 3 weeks is just excessive!

Bwahahahahahaha

yeah most probably this

starts around the hip bum area running down the leg
I slipped my L3 disc about 10 years ago. Managed to get it back in with lots of physio (luckily no surgery required although the DR's were all very keen on it)
Still get a shooting pain down my leg if I sit in strange position (if I tuck my leg under me mainly)
also - ball of my foot and the back of my thigh are completely numb - can prick it with a pin and feel nothing; all due to the nerve damage.

@|tera|
I doubt it is the sciatic nerve as the pain would be debilitating and is very acute.

Sounds more like a torn ligament which can take a long time to heal.

Maybe find a good physiotherapist - they will be able to determine the source and can offer good advice to make sure you are not making it worse.

Thanks. Yep. Physio can't be done. Don't have any cash to do it.
I'll have to tough it out until it heals. I agree it sounds more like tissue damage. My posture too. Sitting in front if a PC right now and I can feel my back paining. I might have to get one of those back braces that a toppie wears :p

Do you have access to a pool?
Swimming was a great form of stress less exercise that did wonders for my back.

Herniated disc self test is simple. Sit down on a chair and then lift your leg up by straightening the knee. If you feel pain you’ve most likely got a herniated disc.

So I had a bit of a pissed off brisk walk quite a distance a few weeks ago.
Didn't feel any pain at the moment.
The pain started about a day later.
It's really painful if I lift my left leg.
I can't pinpoint the source of the pain. Whether it's my hip or leg.
It's quite painful if I walk and even lying down and lifting the leg.
About 12 years ago I sprained my left foot/ankle quite badly when falling. I did the whole shebang with doctors and didn't get an op or anything. Since that time I've unconsciously placed more pressure on my right foot/leg when standing or walking. Noticing it once in a while and being aware of it. It's as if my mind is geared to not step too hard on the left foot/ankle.

I know a doctor is best, blah....

Has anyone had anything similar?
How would I be able to sort it out myself, especially the pain?
I walk quite a bit more these days and it's not getting better.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Sciatic nerve. Some people are prone to it, some not. The best solution is theraputic stretching daily - even twice a day if you can. Especially the lower back, hamstrings and hip flexors. It will come right on it's own usually. I will PM you some stretches to try.

Just did this. No pain. Which is weird. If I stand up and step forward I feel it.

@Everyones-a-Wally can you please also pm me those stretches, I'm pretty sure I have mild sciatica and I've been wanting to try some stretching
